Chapter 35

Maddie's Pov

I was doing my homework after practice on my bed when I got a text. I lifted the ice pack from my ankle and walked over to my phone.

Mike: Heyy :)
Me: Hey yourself, what's up?
Mike: How's your ankle doing after practice?
Me: I just put some ice on it. It's doing better since the meds the doc gave me are working.
Mike: That's great!

So yeah long story short I told Mike about my ankle and he was really understanding and supportive. He encouraged me to tell my parents, and at the beginning of this week, I went to see a doctor with my dad. The doctor gave me medicine for the pain and told me to not do jumps for a while and also to avoid putting too much pressure on it. So far my ankle is doing a lot better.

My mom also knew that even though the doctor prohibited me from doing those things, I would still try my best to do them. That's why my mom met with Olga in secret and told her what I was banned from doing, so when I went to practice I got an earful from her. All about how I should take care of myself and I should've told her and all that.

"Madeline, you must take care of your body. You're an artist. Just like a painter makes art, you also make art with your body. Your body is your tool. If you break it you can't just buy another one."

Also, I've been texting with Dimitri again. We have talked about all kinds of things. My phone beeped again.

Mike: So tomorrow's Saturday. What r u doing?
Me: I have practice during midday. What about u?
Mike: I'm taking Soph to her dance class in the afternoon. I could pick u up?
Me: Sure, what do u have in mind?
Mike: You'll see ;)
Me: Pls tell me it's Netflix and chill with loads of junk food
Mike: Okay I don't mind, you're just making things easier for me haha
Me: That's why u love me right ;)
Mike: *eye roll* I'll see you tomorrow beautiful <3 be ready for an epic Netflix & chill with yours truly :)
Me: Hahaha I'll be waiting ;)

I smiled and laid down on my bed gazing at the ceiling. Mike made me so ridiculously happy. I still didn't know what was going on with Nia and Blake but I knew they've been fighting and I was worried about Nia. She's never been like that. She promised she would tell me what's going on, but she hasn't told me anything yet. In fact, she's been really distant with me. So I decided to text her.

Me: Hey, u doing okay?

She must've been busy because she didn't reply. I continued to do my school stuff and texting with Mike. I also asked Mike what was going on with Nia and Blake.

Me: Do u know what's going on with Nia and Blake?
Mike: Not exactly...
Me: What do u mean?
Mike: As I said to Nia I'm sorry but it's not my secret to tell :(
Me: Oh okay then

I was so frustrated by being left out like this. Why couldn't anyone tell me, what was going on?

Saturday

"Madeline, come over to the bar, we will work on basics today."
It was midday now. My practice had started a while ago. Olga was taking it easy for my ankle, so we were working on my upper body and arms. And let me tell you. Ballerinas might not have huge looking muscles because we work to make our muscles long and thin. Sometimes when I was little we used to just stand in the first position with our arms held in the side. It was torture and whenever someone rested their arms, everyone had to start again. In other words ballerina's work hard for our muscles even though they're not that visible.

Now I train by myself. There are usually a lot of girls watching and stretching at the sides but they don't train with me. They're getting ready for their own classes. It gets pretty lonely sometimes, therefore, it's nice that Dimitri is coming here soon. Then I would have a companion. Even though Mike is so patient with me when I rant about my ballet problems. He always listens to me carefully. I don't even think he is interested in ballet, but it warms my heart how he at least tries. I love listening to him talk about basketball. He's so passionate about it and you can really see the love he has for the sport.
