I heard yelling somewhere far and an ambulance was coming towards us. I didn't want to open my eyes, I just tried to reach for his hand. He whispered my name quietly like his lungs were crushed.

I opened my eyes. I saw pieces of glass all over me, him and the ground. There were lots of people around us and they started to scream when they saw that my eyes were open. I was just about to say his name when suddenly everything went black.

The parents

Both Mike and Maddie's parents had decided to go on a double date of their own while their kids were on their date. They decided to go to a nice restaurant which is right outside of town. They had ordered their foods and were chit chatting about life.

"It's really nice that we finally got to do this! It really has taken us way too long!" said Maddie's mom, Evelyn.
"I know it really has. I can't believe our kids have been dating for months already and you and I haven't even met each other! Properly, I mean. That one wine and cheese night doesn't count," continued Mike's mom, Katherine.
"It's weird to think that I still have known Katherine for many years. But it has just been more as colleagues and nothing else," Maddie's dad, Derek remarked.
"I know, it really is strange to think about," added Katherine.

"Oh, I think that's our food finally arriving," said Mikes dad, James as he nodded towards a waiter who was carrying four plates.
"Finally!" Katherine and Evelyn said at the same time and everyone laughed.

They finally got their foods and started eating and getting to know each other better. They ate the appetizers and the main courses and it was finally time for the dessert.

"So, I wonder what Maddie and Michael are doing on their date," Evelyn wondered.
"Well, Mike said something about taking her to one of those escape room types of things. I wonder how they did in that," Katherine answered and smiled widely.
"Oh, that sounds fun. I would like to believe that they did amazing. They have that type of connection that could be useful in those," Evelyn remarked.
"I think so too and that daughter of ours has always been a smart cookie," Derek smiled and took his wife under his arm.
"And so has our son. So yes they probably did great," James said.

"Is it weird that we are talking about our son and daughters date while we are out on our date? Or is this something all parents do?" Katherine questioned.
"I personally think it's normal. Or at least I hope so," Evelyn answered and everyone laughed again.

"I really would like to know how their date went. Is it too weird if I call Maddie?" Evelyn asked and grinned.
"Hmm, I really don't know," Katherine wondered.

Both Evelyn's and James' phones started ringing like on a queue. They took their phones out of their bags and pockets.

"Speak of the devil. It's Mike," James said and was already swiping to answer the phone.
"Oh, and this is Maddie. Weird that they are calling us at the same time."

"Hello?" They both say in unison.

"Yes, this is her.

Who are you and why do you have my daughters phone?

From the hospital?! What do you mean from the hospital! Is my baby okay?
