Chapter 23

But then my phone rang and I can tell that I wasn't receiving happy news...

I found my self breathing in a bag in the back seat and we were heading to the hospital. I couldn't believe what had happened. He has been so healthy and he has had never put himself in this kind of a situation. I didn't even know all the details. How could this happen to a person like that?

Nia tried to calm me and Blake put on some relaxing music. Mike told me to calm down too and to trust the doctors. They would cure him.

The trip to the hospital felt like an hour when it actually took us like 5 minutes because Mike was speed driving.

We parked the car, Mike opened the door for me and held my hand. We walked to the hospital Nia on the other side of me, Mike on the other side and Blake in front of us.

We went to the first aid counter and I said his name. They had already put him to his own room.

I ran there. And there he was...

My dad.

He had fallen when he was cutting branches from our apple trees. And his bones were broken from several places. And he looked so stressed out and exhausted. I started to cry and hugged him.
"Dad... how did this happen? You're always so careful when you cut the branches. You can't do this to me, mom and Ty."
"Darling, I know. I just turned around to empty on the ladder. It's no big deal. They will but a cast to my left hand and my right leg."
"So it's not really that bad. When mom called it sounded like you will be getting a full body cast. I breathed to a bag and was in a shock."
"Oh sweety, you know your mom, she always overexaggerates. But I love you!" Dad smiled and gave a kiss on my forehead.
"I love you too. So much. But you have to take it a bit easier on the ladder.
"Of course. I don't want to be in this situation ever again. The pain was unspeakable."
"Now you will rest and sleep. Relax."
"Yeah yeah. I'll try."

Dad glanced his eyes at the others who were standing next to the door.
"And who do we have here? I know Nia and Mike but who are you?" Dad said to Blake.
"Hello sir, I'm Blake Lewis. I am Maddie's friend and Mike's best friend."
"It's pleasure to meet you, Blake."
"You too, sir."
"I hope I didn't interrupt anything important..."
"Oh my God, no sir. Your health is the most important thing!" Nia, Mike and Blake said at the same time.
"Okay then. You all are very well behaving young ones. I like you all very much. Please, do visit us when I'm back at home. It would be nice to have a dinner with you and your parents!"
Everyone just nodded their heads.

"Dad, we will come tomorrow. Sleep now!"
"I will darling. Have a nice night!"
"We will!" Everyone answered.

We decided to end our evening there. Mike threw us to my place and Nia stayed for the night. We were so tired so we literally fall to our beds. We had so much fun even though all the things with my dad.

After the whole fiasco yesterday Nia stayed at my place. That meant that we had to go to her place before going to school in the morning.

We had woken up to my alarm clock going off. Neither of us really felt like putting on any makeup or anything because we were so exhausted.

We ate breakfast and then started to drive to Nia's place. We just listened to music the whole ride because we were both so tired that we didn't feel like talking.

When we got there, Nia quickly went to change her clothes and get her books and then we were of driving to school.

Mondays are always the worst. I just wanted to stay home and curl in a ball in my bed with some blankets.
