mer-periods

-every mermaid has a key to the pool bc instead of regular periods they get stuck in siren form

-siren form is a bit different for every mermaid, but alanas is she gets really loud

-she sings, and when she sings anyone who can hear it gets lured in and winds up in the pool

-not drowned, bc once soaked they get their senses back enough to cover their ears

-plus alana would never want to drown anyone she just get slonely in that pool all night

-zoe is usually her buddy/ babysitter during mer/periods, sitting on the diving board with soundproof headphones

-she learned to lipread really well, and responds to alana all night long

-both wind up pretty tired after, having not slept all night but they truck through the school day then go to sleep at 4 pm

-the mer periods only happen when the moon is out, usually monthly and only last one to two days

-drastically different from regular periods, but still monthly

-some things that are the same for every mermaid on her period are;

-cravings for meat, and greasy food

-their voices go into persuasion mode, for some even just talking they can get people to do whatever they say

-sharp teeth, sharp claws

-like, if their tongues werent toughened theyd get cut lots sharp

-all of them get pointy and if she bites someone it looks like a small shark bite

-dont let her near your fingers

-zoe has jared bring her the mcdonalds mermaid-period order, which is just the patties loaded with unhealthy grease and stuff

-zoe tosses them out over the water and alana the orca jumps out to catch them in her mouth

-half the time other mermaids align with zoe

-thats a fun time

-the alana usually friendly with the mermaid she has to share the pool with, but one time heather d came along

-it was not pretty

-heather d was chasing alana around, but heather m was just a tad bit too slow to catch her permanently

-alana did get a few scratches on her top half, her tail being immune to the others claws

-if not for her edge she might have been bitten and alanas too nice even in siren form to fight back

-meanwhile, heather m was freaking out above water, unable to help bc she had literaly fairy wings and couldnt go in water

-zoe was freaking too but she was move calm, and they eventually caught alana in a net and moved her to the hot tub, cramped but away from heather d

-oh yeah did i mention they cant breathe air on their merperiods

-yeah they get gills that only work underwater

-the transformation of growing gills takes long enough for them to run to the pool, but they need a friend they trust to help with the night ahead

-they remember what they did but they dont have full control, actions based on instinct alone in the moment

-some of the worse mermaids wind up taking off their tops for their own reasons, but not alana so its all good

-the more mermaids in the pool the worse, but most are docile and get along

-three out of the entire mermaid population at the school are agressive

-mermaids will never know the pain of actual periods, as they are all infertile and dont make babies at all

-but thats more sciencey and youre here for the fluff so im not going to get into that
