39. Dumbledore's Death

Juliet's POV:
Harry wrote me a letter to come to the astronomy tower. He went somewhere with Dumbledore tonight. I make it to the second level and see Harry hiding. " What's going on?" I whisper to him. He doesn't answer. He points upward. I look up and see Malfoy pointing a wand at Dumbledore. I put a hand over my mouth. That's when I notice the death eaters. I also see Snape. Fuck. Snape points his wand at Dumbledore. " Avada Kedavara!" He shouts. I gasp. I rush down the steps as I see Dumbledore fall. Harry chases after the death eaters as I run to the court yard. A small crowd is gathered around Dumbledore. " Let me through!" I shout. I notice Ced rushing this way trying to see what's going on. Nik is trailing behind him. Once they are close enough Nik gasps and covers her mouth. I fall down next to Dumbledore. " I couldn't stop it I'm sorry..." I mumble. Ced falls to my side but doesn't do anything since everyone is watching. Nikki looks down at the ground. I wish he would just hold me. I feel more tears stream down my face. Nik walks over and sits next to me pulling me into a hug. I cry into her. " I could've stopped it..." I mumble. "Shh..." She coos rubbing my back as she tries to stay strong. I can't stay. I pull away from her. I get up and run. I run into the doors and up the stairs. I run to the only place I have found sanctuary. I make it to Ced's classroom and collapse on the floor as soon as I'm in the door. I hear footsteps then a door shut. Ced falls to my side and pulls me into his chest. I pull him as close as I can now that there are no eyes to see us. I continue to cry. " I should've known..." I mumble. "Shh... I'm sorry..." He whispers while rocking me. " Students to your dormatories!" I hear McGonagall call. I shake my head. " I can't go back..." I whisper. I needed him. "Hey you can go back and once they do their head count and think your asleep you can take your cloak and come back here. Just stay with Nikki until then." He says. I nod. I get up and run to the Gryffindor common room.

After head count I grab my cloak and bolt towards Ced's classroom. I make it and rush inside. I shut the door and pull off the cloak. Ced walks out of his dorm to see me. I rush to him. " Ced..." I say as I wrap my arms around his waist. "Shh..." He wraps his arms around me while stroking my hair lightly. I look up at him. " I need to go pee..." I say. He nods and moves so I can go to his bathroom. I go in and do my business. I walk over to the mirror. I wash my hands and dry them. When I'm turned to the side I notice it. A small bump protruding from my shirt. " Ced!" I call. Maybe this would bring him some joy in such a dark time. "Is everything alright?" He asks as he rushes in. I smile at him. " I'm showing..." I say. He smiles slightly. He walks up behind me and places his hands on my stomach. I lean back into him. " I hadn't noticed earlier..." I say looking down at my stomach. "I didn't either..." He says rubbing my stomach. I smile. " We're finally having a baby..." I say happily. "Yeah... We are... I told you it'll all work out." He says smiling. I put my hands over his. " I love you so damn much..." I say. "I love you too... Always..." He says kissing the side of my head. I smile. " We have to figure out how to tell everybody... Especially since the Weasley's are staying in our house until the burrow is fixed..." I say. "I think their fixing it over the summer but we'll tell everyone as soon as you feel ready." He says. " Well I'm sure it will be soon because the baby will tell them sooner if we don't..." I say laughing. He laughs. He kisses my head again. " I mean I could barely hide it at three months last time..." I say giggling. "Yeah... Then we'll tell them soon." He says chuckling. I giggle. " My only concern is Harry's reaction because he didn't know we were still dating while you were a teacher..." I say biting my lip. "Well at least we know Nikki will slap him if we need her to." He says chuckling. I giggle. " True..." I say laughing. He smiles and rests his head on mine. He closes his eyes and sighs in content. I close my eyes. This was everything I wanted. Him and our baby. " Our baby..." I say softly and rub my thumbs on his hands beneath mine. "Our baby..." He whispers rubbing my stomach with his thumbs. I smile. " We should get some rest the train comes tomorrow..." I say softly. "Okay..." He says and takes my hand leading me to his bed. We lay down and I snuggle into his chest. " Goodnight Ced..." I say softly. "Goodnight Jay..." He whispers kissing my head again. I soon fall asleep in the safety of his arms.
