Ross's POV:
It'd been a week since Maddy had said she would tell Will the truth and she still hadn't. "When?" I complained, tailing her around the garage.
"Soon." She replied, digging through a draw for a bolt.
"You said that yesterday day." I argued, standing boldly in the doorway and not moving as she tried to get through.
"Do you have any idea how hard this is?" She asked. "I love Will and he's been so good to me and Lilli."
I sighed, turning slightly so I was learnt back against the doorway and she had just enough space to get through, causing our body's to grind against each other's as she passed through.
She leaned over the car, stretching far into the engine, making my thoughts turn dark. With my eyes fixated on one area and one area only my phone began ringing from my pocket.
I searched in every single one of my overall pockets before I finally got it and bought it to my ear, walking outside and to the front of the driveway. "Hello?"
"Ross, glad to hear your voice again." Jace said, I could sense the smirk in his voice.
"I'm hanging up in three... two..-"
"Alright, alright! Ruin my fun why don't you." He said. "I've got a money maker coming your way."
"I told you, I'm not doing anything dodgy." I replied.
"I know but I also know you, normal life is too boring and you need a dodgy deal here and there to give you an adrenaline kick."
I sighed, he was right. I'd been bored out of my mind for the past week. The only thing that bought me any excitement was Maddy but I could lose all that if she found out about his however we needed the money, badly.
"Money maker?"
"I've set up a little race on the outskirts of your little village. Win? You'll get five grand. Lose? and I'll have your head."
"I don't lose." I replied. "When is this?"
"Tonight."
"Text me the details, I'll be there." I snapped before hanging up.
"Ross!" Maddy called. "I don't pay you to stand around on your phone!"
"You're right but your daddy does." I smirked, popping the hood on another car.
* * *
"Ready?" Jace asked.
"Always." I retorted, strapping my fingerless gloves over my hands for better grip of the steering wheel.
"Five grand." He reminded me with a smirk.
I walked over to the car Jace had prepared for me. I slid inside and shut the door, gripping the steering wheel tightly and sparing my opponent glance.
He had dirty blonde hair and wore sunglasses although it was night. I rolled my eyes, that's all I needed to know- he was an amateur- he didn't even wear gloves.
I smirked, revving my engine as the pretty blonde girl strutted between the cars raising her flag. Normally, my eyes wondered all over her body, not even caring for her face, sometimes so much that I'd forget to even begin the race when she waved her flag- I still won. But not this time, I didn't even care for her body, all I could think about was getting this money to help Maddy, to prepare our future. What the hell is wrong with me?
I cleared my mind, emptied my thoughts and stared straight at the flag which waved down. I slammed my foot on the gas and sped along in front of the other guy.
I couldn't even see him in my wing-mirrors he was so far back, I'd assumed he made the first mistake I did on my first race but I was no rookie to drag races and I knew this track like the back of my hand.
I came to a stop on the other side to see the other guy stood with a victory smirk and his car.
"What the hell..." I muttered, getting out of the car and slamming my door.
"You just lost me five grand." Jace snapped.
"That kid cheated, alright? I didn't even see him the whole time!" I exclaimed.
"Probably so far ahead."
"You saw, I took off before him." I snapped.
"You're saying Kai cheated?"
"Yes." I said through gritted teeth, shoving past Jace and storming over to him. "Hey congrats man." I said before throwing a fist at Kai's face.
Another guy stepped in, holding me back as I attempted to continue what I had started.
"What the hell was that for?" Kai asked, wiping the blooding from his lip.
"You know!" I yelled.
"Someone's a sore loser." He scoffed, looking around at the men who laughed at his joke.
I threw the guy off me, leaping at Kai. He went down easy and I continued to throw fists at his face.
People quickly piled on, dragging me off him.
Jace and I were thrown back to our cars. "Come back and you won't get away so easy." Tommy, the man who ran it snapped before walking back over to the celebration.
"Idiot!" Jace yelled, slapping the back of my head.
"I wasn't letting him get away with cheating me out of my money." I snapped.
"And if you hadn't of done that we could of had someone look into it but now you've lost me not only the five grand I placed on you but my ability to get any of my guys to race here again!"
"Oh boo hoo." I snapped, ripping my car door open. "Not like you need the money anyway, you're loaded."
"And you know how I got like that? By not letting punks like you get away with stuff like this." He snapped, holding my door open. "You lost me a lot of money tonight, let's call it twenty grand and I'll let you walk away."
"I ain't giving you shit." I spat, slamming the door on him and speeding off.
