When We Realize (A Sheo Fanfic)

Chapter Two

*Theo's POV*

Once I was dressed in my black swim shorts and a white t-shirt I took the elevator to the top floor, where the pool room is apparently located. I've never heard of a pool room on the top floor...

I opened the door to find myself in an incredibly large room with a crystal clear pool. The pool was large with a diving board on one end, and surrounding it, tables and chairs. Looks like I beat Shailene here.

I took off my shirt and threw it onto a table along with my towel. I walked to the diving board and immediately dived off of it. The water is a perfect temperature, and feels good against my skin. When I resurfaced at the other end, Shai walked in. She looked around at the room, smiling, and walked over to a table and took off her shirt and leggings.

I felt my eyes bug as I took in her perfect twenty-two year old figure. Her skin is so light, and it looks great in her peach colored bikini. Why the fuck am I thinking this? It shouldn't be wrong for a man to occasionally be attracted to a woman other than his girlfriend, but she is my best friend, and it feels wrong. She would be disgusted if she could hear my thoughts. Thankfully she is still looking around at the room, and not at me. I pretended to stretch and skimmed my hands across the clear water.

"Theo?"

"Yeah, what? Sorry." I mutter, looking back over at her.

"I said you beat me!"

My eyes meet hers, and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be to not let my eyes wander her body again, because her hazel eyes are just as capturing to me. "Don't I always?" I answer her sarcastically.

I dived back under the water and swam all the way to the other side slowly. I came up for air only to notice that she was lying down on one of the chairs, her eyes closed and her hands behind her head.

"What are you doing?"

She opened one eye and peeked at me before shutting it again. "Tanning."

I laughed. Tanning? "Um, Shai, have you been inhaling too much bath lavender? There's no natural sun in here."

"Okay then, I'm meditating."

I rolled my eyes even though she couldn't see. She is truly crazy. "Get your butt in the pool, we came here to swim!"

She took a slow deep breath. "I'm feeling pretty relaxed right here though,"

I climbed out of the pool as quietly as I could and walked over to her. Her eyes snapped opened right as I was leaning over her, due to the droplets of water falling from my skin to hers, and then they widened. "Have it your way!" I picked her up into my arms cradle style.

She started screaming. "AHH! THEO, NO STOP! I WAS KIDDING ILL GET IN!"

I smiled as she begged me, to no avail. "Too late," I ran to the edge of the pool and hopped in with her in my arms, creating a huge splash.

She resurfaced moments after me, laughing but also glaring at me at the same time, pushing her hair out of her eyes. "You are an ass, you know that?"

"Yup."

She started swimming across the pool, and I tried to not sit there like an idiot, staring, so I swam in the opposite direction. She got out and tiptoed over to the diving board.

"I used to be able to do a back flip when I was younger," She told me, looking down into the pool. "Should I try?"

"I think you should hold off on that. I don't think they would like it if Tris showed up with a concussion."

She stuck her tongue out at me and dove in. She held her breath until she was all the way at the other side, near me.

"It's such a nice temperature... I haven't been swimming in a while."

"Me neither," I responded.

"I wonder if it's open at night. It would be soul-fuel to be able to come here really late and just swim. Great exercise too."

"Yeah, that would be cool."

"Hey! You have your Four tattoo's! When did you get them?" She asked excitingly, pushing through the water to the back of me to look.

"Yesterday."

I felt her hands on my back suddenly, and a chill ran down my spine.

"Four has one sexy back, dammnnn." Her fingers danced over the faction symbols I know don on my back.

I laughed. "They did yours yesterday too I guess?" I ask, looking at the ravens on her collarbone.

"Mhmm," She moved back to the front of me.

I felt nervous for some reason. I haven't seen her in about a month, since she has been on tour for TFIOS. Also, it's the water that is adding to my nerves. I feel like it would be weird if our skin brushed up against each other under the water, since it would be all soft and cold. Maybe I kind of want to feel her skin brush against m- wait, what am I saying? I mentally smacked myself for being creepy.

Sometimes it's hard for me to control my thoughts around her, and sometimes I can't help but stare. When she is laughing and her eyes are sparkling it's almost as if there's no reason not to look at her. Why would I look at something else when she is always this bright, positive, sun right next to me?

She is one of my best friends, and things are always like that for me, I guess. I love my girlfriend, and I also know Shailene wants to date somebody more attuned to her lifestyle. Plus it would be unwise to be together like that, since we are business partners for the next couple years.

We continued to swim and joke around about dumb things for a while longer. It definitely passed by the time in a fun way. She never ceases to make me laugh or roll my eyes or think about something totally random.

Eventually, Miles showed up, I don't know how he knew we were in here. I stayed when he came, because he is actually a really nice guy, with a funny sense of humor, but I noticed he kept teasing Shailene and I started to feel awkward. That's the only time he bothers me, is when it is just the three of us together, because I feel like he purposefully tries to make it seem like I'm not there.

He has been friends with Shai for much longer than I have though, so maybe they have a deeper friendship. I personally think he likes her in a greater way, because he goes out of his way to compliment her in odd ways, and who knows, maybe she likes him back. Long as she's happy, I guess it doesn't matter to me. I excused myself after a while, saying that I had to unpack, and left the two of them to swim for a while longer. It was actually quite fun swimming with her though, I'm glad she asked.
