*Theo's POV*

"What in the..."

My eyes open groggily to see Zoe Kravitz standing in the doorway of Shailene's room. Shai is curled up next to me in a ball, and my body is wrapped around hers. Her eyes snap open and she looks up at me, then turns slowly to Zoe. This isn't good...

Shai sits up quickly, the blanket still partially wrapped around her, her hair sticking up every which way. Still radiantly beautiful, despite it.

"Shit," She whispers.

I sit up too, putting my hand on the small of Shailene's back to comfort her. Zoe finally speaks. "I'm, uh, so sorry. I was coming to ask Shai if she still had my bathing suit. She borrowed it again and I thought you would be up, so I walked in."

We all sit there awkwardly and Shai laughs a little, biting her lip.

"So... are you guys just... playing around? Or are you a thing."

I wait for Shailene to answer. "We aren't playing around."

Zoe nods slowly, looking confused. Then she smiles. "I knew it! How long has this been going on?"

"Two months?" I say.

"But you can't tell anybody, Zoe. Please. Not yet."

"Um, okay. Of course not."

"Thank you,"

She stands there, looking back and forth between the two of us. She scratches her head awkwardly, the silence uncomfortable. "Yeah, so I'm sorry. I'm going to go."

"Wait! Zoe."

She turns back around. "Your bathing suit should be hanging in the laundry room."

"Thanks!" She says over her shoulder.

We sit there quietly until we hear the door to the apartment shut and then we turn to each other, our faces serious. Shai's face slowly breaks into a smile and she giggles, her head falling against my shoulder.

"Good morning? Good morning!"

I laugh. "Interesting morning is more like it. That was awkward."

She pushes the blanket off of her and stands up. She throws her hands into the air and stretches. "Interesting morning. Interesting morning!" She sings while yawning.

"I'm going to take a shower babe."

"Okay. I'm making myself some tea. Do you want me to make you coffee?"

"Sure,"

After my shower I put on some athletic shorts and a shirt. I walk out and see Shai sipping her tea, her laptop balancing on her lap. I grab the coffee mug on the table and sit next to her, wresting my arm over her shoulder.

"What are you looking at?"

"My favorite blogger posted something this morning."

"Will you read some of it to me?"

"Really?"

"Yeah, why not."

She purses her lips and takes a small breath before she starts to read. "Living in the moment is perhaps one of the hardest behaviors to acquire on ones spiritual journey. Forgetting all but what is given to you in the now can be very challenging, and it's something that is learned overtime. There comes a point in your life when you have to realize that there is no future, and there is not a past. The moment is all we have and letting the mind worry and anticipate future situations in pointless, just as fretting over something that has already happened will not change it. We will never face anything in the future. We will always face it in the present."
