Ross' POV

"Good morning sleepy head!" Mom teased as she ruffled the top of my already messy hair with her hand. I took a seat at the kitchen table and groaned, I hated the mornings, I wasn't a morning person whatsoever. "We've got bacon, eggs, pancakes, various fruits and of course lucky charms for breakfast this morning."

I smirked and pointed to Rocky who was sat across from me with a bowl of lucky charms in front of him. "I never knew you were such a girl bro."

"I like the marshmallows, okay?" Rocky muttered as he began to shovel spoonfuls of the lucky charms cereal into his mouth. "And it's also really tasty."

I chuckled and smiled at my Mom who was patiently waiting by the stove to start cooking my breakfast. "Bacon and pancakes sounds good." I offered with a smirk. "Oh and I'll take the leftovers for soccer practise later."

My father entered the kitchen with a sour expression on his face, he held a newspaper close to his chest as he took a seat at the head of the table. Rocky and I shared a look of humour, we both knew exactly what was coming. A complaint. "Stormie, this wedding is costing us more than ours did. It's about time Ellington's parents pay their fair share!"

"Mark, we've been through this." Mom began with a sigh. The fresh smell of bacon wafted through my nose and the sweet stench of maple syrup as Mom began to prepare my breakfast. I hadn't had a home cooked breakfast in so long, it felt amazing to finally be able to sit down with my family again and eat one, despite what the topic of conversation might be around the dining table. "Delly has always known the theme of her wedding, the location, who she was going to invite, what everyone would eat and drink. You can't blame her for having expensive aspirations, she just wants to enjoy her wedding day."

"And I'd like to enjoy my retirement, Stormie. This will take us years to pay off." Dad muttered as he glanced at me with serious eyes. "Son, don't even think about putting a ring on anyone's finger. Your sister has covered the price of all your weddings at this rate."

I chuckled and shook my head with a smile. "I'm definitely waiting as long as I can until I settle down with someone."

Rocky furrowed his eyebrows at me and let out a sarcastic cough. "You've had a kid, Ross. You're way ahead of the rest of us."

"Uh, that kid is your niece!" Mom scolded as she playfully hit Rocky on the back of the head with a towel.

Rocky smirked and crossed his arms over his chest. "That's true. You know one day, Ross, that frying pan of hers is going to come in handy."

Mom, Dad and I groaned in unison as Mom placed a warm plate of bacon and pancakes in front of me. "Thanks Mom, it looks great!" I said with a smile as I began to cut into my pancakes. I turned my attention back to Rocky after wiping the maple syrup away from my lips and I rolled my eyes. "Bro, we've been through this. Isabella is never going to need a frying pan!"

"How the hell do you know, Ross? She could come across some freaky kid at nursery who tries to steal her unicorn or her bottle of milk." He muttered before tapping his fingers absentmindedly on the table beneath us. "What did they teach you in those Daddy to be classes anyway? They were practically eating up your money."

Dad rolled his eyes and tapped Rocky gently on the back. "Son, my granddaughter won't need to defend herself with a pink frying pan when I'm around."

I smiled. My father had definitely adapted to my new lifestyle more than I'd anticipated him to. I think he partly felt guilty after Laura's father passed away, without my father, Isabella didn't have a grandfather. I was glad that he'd finally realised that. At some point or another, Isabella was going to need my annoyance of a father and when she did, they would both be grateful for each other. I was sure of it.
