Ross' POV

"Raini I really think we should consider getting a chicken for our backyard. We'll be moving in together soon and it would just make sense for us to have a chicken as our first pet... you know to-"

Raini held her hand up to Calum's face in disgust and clutched a vogue magazine in her free hand. "Calum... please stop talking about chickens. Ever since we got back from Delly's wedding all I've heard from you is chickens this, chickens that. If you want a chicken then get a freaking chicken!"

I raised my eyebrows at my two friends arguing over a chicken. It wouldn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who put the idea of a chicken into Calum's head. After all, who was the chicken king of this family? Ah yes... Ellington Lee Ratliff, aka the husband to my older sister.

Laura walked into the kitchen with her hair tied up in a messy bun, her pyjamas still on and Isabella attached to her hip with a bottle of milk in her mouth. "You know... it's funny. Bella and I were having this amazing dream about food and all of a sudden I can literally hear Calum discussing the importance of having a chicken as a pet as one of his life goals."

I chuckled and pulled her close to me, placing a gentle kiss on her lips. I could hear Calum and Raini groaning in disgust in the background but we both rolled our eyes at them and smirked at one another. "Get a room you guys!" Raini exclaimed before folding the magazine up onto her lap.

"Clearly we did." Laura joked before pointing to Isabella who was still repeating the word yay to herself every time Laura or I gave her food or said that it was time for a nap. Once Laura had placed Isabella in her high chair she took a seat beside me and stole one of my pancakes from my plate. I glared at her and she rolled her eyes playfully at me. "Ross please! I spent three hours in labour to give birth to a mini you who keeps shouting yay all the time. Don't I at least get to steal some of your food?"

Before I could answer her Calum began to stare at Isabella like she was some strange creature he'd never laid eyes on before. In turn Isabella stared back at him with a pout on her lips. She prodded her finger onto Calum's forehead and repeated her infamous line once more. "Yay!"

Calum's eyes widened and he stared at both Laura and I with a confused expression. "Does she even know what yay means? Or when it's appropriate to use it?"

Raini chuckled sarcastically from behind Calum and tickled Isabella on the cheek with her finger. "Calum she's a baby. Are you expecting her to recite a grammatical sentence to you?"

Laura giggled. "I'm sorry you guys, I know the whole yay thing gets annoying but until she learns a new word then I guess we're stuck with it for now."

Raini smiled and continued to coo over Isabella. "I think it's adorable. Then again I am biased, she's my goddaughter after all."

The four of us laughed and Calum smiled at Laura and I with his arms folded across his chest. "It's so refreshing to see you guys together again."

I ran my fingers down Laura's arm and smiled at her. She was my everything. My smile, my light in my darkest days, my muse and most importantly my one true love. "I missed her, what can I say."

Laura blushed and nuzzled into my chest. "I missed you too."

"I can't believe how far the both of you have come though." Calum murmured. He shook his head in disbelief at our current situation. "I mean it feels like only yesterday the four of us met up in that party and got drunk on god knows what. That night I met three of my best friends and of course my beautiful girlfriend. I'm so grateful for all of you."
