"Do you believe in miracles?"
"Miracles... never happen..."
"What makes you say that?"
"When you need them the most, they don't happen"
"Excuse me miss?" I raised my head to look at the male who was standing in the elevator with
me.
"Y-Yes?"
"To which floor are you heading?" he asked since I obviously forgot to press the button for the floor I was heading.
"Oh, excuse me I am going to the 4th floor" he hummed and pressed the button for my floor.
"Are you visiting someone, miss?" he asked
"Yes, my sister" I replied in a sad tone.
"Oh, I'm sorry I hope your sister gets better soon" he gave a soft smile before he got off in his floor.
"Thank you... but she won't" I mumbled as the doors closed.
My feet stumbled along the corridor towards Mari's room, again I saw the same male person walking out of her door as yesterday. My eyes widened and my curiosity rose, I wondered what kind of connection he had to my sister. He walked towards me and I pinched my skirt, gathering all my courage to confront him but before I could do so, I collided with the shoulder of a nurse who passed me.
"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry miss! Are you hurt?" she apologized and bend down to help me, the inside of my little shoulder bag was scattered on the floor.
"No, it's my fault for not paying attention, I should apologize" I said and picked up my stuff, she helped me and I placed everything back into my bag.
"Don't forget this" a deep voice said from behind me, I turned around and found the gaze of the guy I wanted to confront. He was holding a piece of paper in his hand and my eyes widened, I quickly snatched the paper from him and thanked him.
"T-Thank you!" I hurried towards my sister's room with a racing heart.
"How much did he read? Did he perhaps see the amount of the debt? No he couldn't have..." I calmed down.
"Mari, it's me, can I come in?" I asked knocking gently.
"Come in!" she replied and I walked into the room
"How are you doing?"
"Alright I guess, you won't believe it I finished the book within 24hrs" she smiled widely
"Really? Wow that's pretty fast"
"It was so thrilling that I spend the entire night reading it!" I walked over to the window and opened it to let some fresh air into the room.
"You know that it's not healthy, you need a good nights sleep" I scolded her
"Yeah yeah I know, but the book was just too good I could not stop" I leaned against the window sill and looked at her cheering face.
"Hey, can I ask you something?" Mari looked at me with a smile
"Sure, ask away" I was feeling strange to bark into her personal life but I wanted to know her connection to that guy from earlier.
"I... uhmm..." I stuttered a little not really finding the right words to ask her.
"What is it? You can ask me anything" I calmed down and took a deep breath
