"W-What did you just say?" he grinded his teeth and realized he just spilled it. He removed his hands from the wall and turned around to hide his eyes, he was embarrassed to show his ghoul side to me.

"Forget what I just said, it was merely a lie" he tried to escape this situation but oh boy I was not gonna let him.

"Stop right there!" I yelled as he was about to head to another room.

"I'm not letting you crawl away from this conversation! I have some things I 'd like to ask you and I don't care if you are willing to tell me or not!" I opened my bag and pulled out the newspaper I took from the archive.

"I am aware of the truth even if I don't remember it!" I marsh over to him and placed the newspaper into his face.

"This newspaper is x years old! The incident happened at the school I used to go with Mari, we were one of the children who were abducted by ghouls and brought to a facility that did illegal human experimentations!" his eyes widened as he saw the article.

"Where did you get this newspaper?" he asked as he ripped it out of my hands

"I broke into the archive of a newspaper publisher to gain some information's!" he grinded his teeth and crushed the paper into a ball.

"That's bullshit! You weren't involve in this!" he still kept up his lie and I was boiling inside.

"WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR DAMN PROBLEM?? WHY ARE YOU CONTINUING TO DENY THE TRUTH?? I KNOW VERY WELL THAT YOU KNOW SOMETHING, WHY ARE YOU KEEPING IT A SECRET FROM ME??" I gripped his shirt and shook him with all my anger that had build up inside.

"YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT FEELS TO LIVE A LIE! TO KNOW THERE IS A PART MISSING WHICH BELONGS TO YOU! THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THAT! I AM NOTHING MORE THAN AN EMPTY SHELL THAT DOES NOT KNOW WHERE IT BELONGS!!" I started crying out of anger and frustration and placed my head against his chest to hide my tears.

"ALL I EVER WANTED WAS TO LIVE A HAPPY LIFE AND CREATE MEMORIES ON MY OWN TOGETHER WITH MARI! BUT INSTEAD I AM SURROUNDED BY PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AND REFUSE TO TELL ME THE TRUTH! IT HURTS! IT HURTS SO MUCH!" he noticed that my entire body was shaking and it was all because of him. He slowly placed his hands on my shoulder as I continued to sob into his shirt.

"I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU SO MUCH! I want to hate you so much!" I whispered and tightened my grip on his shirt. Yomo slowly moved his hands until he had me into a hug, he closed his arms around me and pressed me into his body to calm me.

"I'm sorry..." was all he said to not upset me more. I don't know for how long we stood like this, but it really helped me to calm down, I nuzzled my face into his warm body and cried until all my emotions were out.

"Do you feel better?" he asked as he slowly released me.

"Y-Yes..." I replied and whipped my eyes from the tears, I was aware that I looked like crap.

"Take a seat, I'll make us something to drink and we can talk" I nodded and walked over to the table where I sit down and waited until he returned.

"Thank you" I said as he placed a mug with hot chocolate in front of me, I wrapped my hands around it and warmed them. It was silent for couple of minutes until he finally started.

"I apologize for lying to you all this time, but I hope you can understand after I tell you the reason for it" I nodded my head and let him tell me his story.

"It all started that day when the highschool you went was attacked by ghouls. You, Mari and 3 other children were taken from the festival to a secret laboratory that was run by the CCG. Kanou, the leader of that lab was in charge to test out a new drug that could increase the RC cells in a human body, turning them into a ghoul. There for he needed children with the blood-type AB, it is the rarest type in the world and also the best type to experiment on. Regarding the school record he found 5 suitable targets that also matched his age group. He injected the children with a lower dose and slowly increased it to the level everyone reached their limit. However the results were not showing on 2 of the children, among them were you and one other. He still increased the dosage for you two but the hoped effects did not occur. The both of you suffered more pain than the other children because you were injected with much higher drugs to make your body shift. At one point the other child showed off the effects and joined the others except you who still resisted adjusting to the drug. Kanou was fascinated that your body showed so much will power to resist the cells and decided to force the transformation with an implantation of a ghouls kakuhou. The day the operation was scheduled a fire occurred in one of the electricity generators, causing a massive explosion in the facility. The smoke screen quickly moved through the airshaft and spread into the cells as the operation room. The medical team who already set you to sleep were panicking and evacuated from the building but they did not manage to escape except Kanou. Meanwhile Mari and the remaining children managed to escape their cells that were unlocked due to the breakdown of the security system that kept the cells shut. Mari knew you were in the operation room and led the others there, she found you unconscious due to the effects of the medicine and carried you on her back. The fire and the smoke had spread to the inner building and took out everyone in their way. Mari and the others reached an airshaft that lead to the outside but it was old and rusty, it looked like it would collapse if anything or anyone would touch it. The children were all weak due to the experimentation so they could barely even keep themselves up on their feet. Climbing the shaft was nearly impossible in their state. Mari tried to encourage them to at least try, they had no time to think of another way to get out since the fire was coming. They climbed the rusty ladder to escape the smoke screen but it caught up too fast and the children were swallowed by it in no time. One after the other lost consciousness and fell down from the ladder into the flames of the fire. Mari who carried you tried to hold on desperately but she was out of energy and had no strength to carry on. Her feet slipped on the ladder and she cling onto a single metal bar. It started bending from the weight and before she knew it broke and send her sliding down the wall, but luckily her fall was stopped by a hole that cracked into the rusty walls from the pressure and the heat of the fire. She was slipping into the hole that lead to a sewage, the fast speed of the water carried both of you away from the facility only hearing the explosion as the last pieces of the building crumbled. It was then when I come into the scene, that day I was on a job with the manager of Anteiku. We were chasing a ghoul that committed cannibalism and followed him into the canalization. We lost sight of him but instead my nose picked up a strong scent of blood, we followed that trace and ended up a barricade were we saw you two washed up at the metal bars that prevented you from falling into the depts of the water. We rescued you and brought you to Anteiku where were aided you to the point Mari gained consciousness. She was frightened of us and protected you with steel eyes, she was very fond of you and rather risked her own life than letting you get harmed. Once she calmed down, she told us what happened and what experiments you had suffered. These memories were burned into her brain and she begged us to erase them. You were still unconscious and not wake up for 6 weeks. During that time we already decided to help you and began preparing the necessary stuff for your future. However it was too late for Mari though, the drug had already taken effects and turned her into a half ghoul. She was scared to hurt you and asked me to help her control it so she would not harm you or anyone else. I accepted and helped her control her ghoul side. Once you finally woke up your brain had already decided to banish those memories and created a long lasting amnesia, you did not remember anything from the point you woke up. That was the start to create a new life for you, we hoped that the amnesia would last so you could live a life in peace. Mari immediately came up with the idea that you were sisters since you both had the same eye color and hair color. We searched for a place to stay for you but shortly after everything started to calm down Mari fell sick. She was suffering from a heart disease and went to the hospital to let herself be examined. During that visit she met Dr. Kanou by accident and he immediately recognized her. She offered him a deal to which he agreed too. She offered herself to him if he'd spare you and left you alone, she told him that the effects of the drug had changed her to his liking and if he left you she would agree to offer her body for more experiments. After that she was hospitalized and once you heard from her sickness you suffered another breakdown, causing you to forget everything again. After that we thought it would be the best to stay out of your life, we respected Mari's choice in order to protect you but we always stayed close to you. Me, Uta and Itori always kept an eye on you from a distance. Until the day Mari told us she would be moved to another laboratory, that is the day you saw me at the hospital for the first time. She told me that you weren't safe after she was gone and asked me to get in touch with you to ensure Kanou was holding his promise. She was afraid that you might remember the truth one day and made me promise to never tell you a thing, I agreed to her last wish and ensured her that I would never leave you alone. A few days after that promise she disappeared and was reported death over night towards you."

I was prepared to hear something devastating but that it actually was this deep shattered my heart. Everything happened just because of me, if I would have remembered then I could have saved Mari and chanced her fate but instead I was always the protected one... weak and fragile like a shard of porcelain...
