I groaned, feeling life come back to me. My fingers twitched, my eyes squinted to force them to open.
I could feel a type of rough fabric under my body.
I finally made my eyes open, a bright world coming into view. Lights shined brightly into my eyes, I held my hand outstretched in front of me to block out the light from my eyes.
I rubbed at my eyes, pushing my glasses out of the way. I tried to sit up, but yelped in pain. A harsh pain erupted in my stomach, forcing me to return back to my original position.

I kept my head up but laid my body as flat as I could. What was that? I put my hand to my belly, feeling a throbbing pain. I pulled my shirt up, finding a long vertical cut filled with stitches. I cried out in fear, yanking my shirt back over it.
What was that?! Where am I? What's happening to me?!

"Yup, my boy got in trouble again at school." A voice echoed from down the hall.

My head quickly turned in the direction I had heard it.
I rolled onto my side, trying to get myself back up. My middle yelled at me in protest from the sudden movements. I looked around me, I was in a huge glass box. I looked down, there was an old warn out blanket beneath me. Outside of the box, was a whole other story. Everything, was huge! Way bigger than me!

I could hear the footsteps getting closer, out of fear, I jumped under the blankets that was beneath me, hiding myself.

"Oh lord, what did he do this time?" A different voice asked, much deeper than the first one.

"He attempted to cheat on a test, then he picked on another student." The first voice said with annoyance.

Two men walked out of the hall and into the room I was in. One of them was very tall, his hair was brown, he had a slight bit of chubbiness to him. He walked into the room and set his hands on his hips, speaking to the other one.

The other guy, his hair was already turning mostly grey, he had scruff of a beard and was slightly shorter than the other one.

"Picked on another student? What did he do?" The guy with the grey hair asked.

"He crumbled up paper and threw them at other students. I'll tell ya, those friends of his is a bad influence." The taller man rolled his eyes.

The man with grey hair patted his back.
"If I were you, Bates, I would send him out back to the biggest stick you could find and show him some discipline."

He shook his head.
"Oh, I will get after him when I get home, sir."

The older dude chuckled.
"Alright, back to business. The girl, I need someone to keep up with her. To run the tests for me, to basically keep her alive and I feel that you would be the best man for the job."

"I would be honored." Bates? If that's his name, nodded.

His head turned to look into my direction, his expression showed worry when he ran over to the little glass box I was in.
"Sir, I don-.." He stopped himself when I would assume he finally noticed I was still there.

"What?" I could feel the trembling in the ground when the other one ran up.

"Nothing, but she's awake."

"Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later." He walked around him.
"Why don't you just go ahead and become acquainted with her, first part of your assignment." The older man walked away.

I heard Bates sigh, I could hear him getting down more to my level, I didn't even need to look.
"Hello." He greeted me.

I tucked myself tighter under the blankets, not wanting to come out.
