I sat as close to Alton's neck as I could, as an attempt to kinda keep myself hidden from the world around me. Maybe partly trying to keep myself warm in the process.
They were all walking for what seemed like forever, staying all in one group.

From a distance, I'm sure, seeing these guys on the street at night would make you take another path home just to avoid them or keep your guard up. Wasn't really my choice to be around them, they made even me uncomfortable. But if this was what Alton thought was best. I guess I have to trust him and go with it.

I heard a buzz, looking down, I watched Alton's hand slip into his pocket to pull his phone back out.
The little box in his hands kept lightly buzzing, the screen lit up with the words 'Dad' across them.
Alton breathed out, clicking a button, declining the call.

His eyes flashed my way for a second but went back down to his phone.
He began to play around on his phone for a moment while he walked. The phone lit up his whole face in white.
I didn't really enjoy it, since I could hardly see! With the bright light shining in my eyes, it prevented me from having much of a view.

I just tried to ignore it the best I could, sitting back against his neck.
I could hear him tapping on his phone, but the tapping began to get louder and harsher.
What was he doing? I sat back up to look at his phone. He tapped buttons a little angrily.
I adjusted my glasses, squinting my eyes to focus in on what his phone was saying.
It was along the lines of 'try again' or 'can't connect.'

He would back out of whatever he was on and load onto another app but only for him to get a similar message as before.
After a bunch of attempts, he cut his phone off.
"Dammit." He grumbled.

"What happened?" Parker showed up next to him.

"I think my Dad cut my phone off." Alton mumbled.

"Damn.." Parker looked ahead of the group.
"They are really out for you. Are you sure you should be out here at a time like this then?"

"Probably not, but I don't want to sit in the house the whole day. Just gotta watch for-"
Alton was cut off when he bumped into Milo.

"Cops." Milo finished for him when he saw a police car sitting parallel on a side road.  The car was completely dark, but I could still barely see motion through the window. Meaning, the police man was still waiting in his car.

We were all stopped by a fence in someone's yard, watching the car, backing up behind the fence before they could see us.

"We'll need to go another way." Sal walked the opposite way we were going.

"Great," One of the boys said sarcastically. What was his name..? Mike? Nick? Nick!
"Altons gonna make this real fun for us.."

"Well, Alton kinda did blow this for us. But it's also dealing with it's the same cop from the other day. He'll recognize us and seeing us out at night like this will raise suspicion. You can survive a little more walking, Nick."

With that, everyone turned back around and started walking another way.
I sat up, glancing around some before grabbing onto Alton's ear lobe.
"Where are we going?" I whispered a bit.

He turned his head upon hearing my small voice. Novians seem to have some pretty good hearing. Where I can speak normally and sometimes whisper, depending on the distance I am from them, and they can hear me.
