It's weird how things change, how people can be so different once you get to know them. Nick.. I thought for a second that he was bad, that he was really a wolf in sheep's clothing. Before that, I thought he was a creep by the way he would sometimes stare at me for a few more seconds too long. But yet, here I was. Sitting on his chest while I watched him play a game on the computer. I was still a bit shy, but I kept getting a feeling. Like something was telling me everything was alright. He's not really the monster I was beginning to believe he was.

In the game he was playing, he was seemingly struggling. Wondering around the map for what felt like ages.
"Where is it?" He mumbled underneath his breath, his eyes narrowed at the screen as if that would help heighten his vision.

I stared at the screen too, my eyes darting around the screen.

"Find the key." It had said, written in the top left corner.

Just as he walked by a room, I saw a fridge, and a golden glimmer directly next to it.

"There!" I called it out, pointing at the screen.
"In the Kitchen."

He glanced down to me but listened, and proceeded towards the kitchen. As soon as he walked in, there was a glimmer again.

He went over the inspect it, picking up the object. Sure enough, it was the key he had been looking for.
"Good eye." He praised.

The door opened, pulling my thoughts away from the game and towards the door. Seeing Alton.

He walked in normally but stopped as soon as he saw me, almost like he was surprised.
"So..." He started. "I take it that things went well..?"

Nick glanced up from his game and to him, then back down towards the computer.
"Yeah, it went fine."

"It looks like it did better than just fine.." Alton walked by us and to where his bag was.

"I'm just as surprised as you are." Nick slowly shook his head. Continuing on with his game, which I resumed watching.

After a few moments of silence, Alton spoke back up.
"I just started thinking about something.."

"Hm?" Nick hummed, eyes glued to his game.

"Isn't it still against the law for Novians to hurt humans..?"

"Um.. Last I heard, yeah. Why?" Nick's eyebrows narrowed almost like he was confused or thinking.

"Then why are they trying to test on Clay? That counts as hurting her. They pretty much cut her open and tortured her after words. I wouldn't think our government would allow that." Alton pointed out.

Nick looked towards him with interest and curiosity. He paused his game and set the computer off to the side.
"That's right.." He said like he remembered something. At the same moment, Sal walked back in.
"Maybe the law changed?" Nick suggested with uncertainty.

"Are you talking about the law on humans?" Sal questioned, taking a seat on the other side of the room.

"Yeah." Nick answered.

"Then no they wouldn't change the law like that. Humans are the closest thing that relates to us. We're not barbarians. except cannibals, no offense, Nick." Sal looked towards Nick.

"Doesn't bother me, I'll agree with you actually." Nick sat back, folding his arms over top him. Felt like I was being caged in by this action, when his arms laid next to me, cutting off some ways of leaving.

"Anyways, they wouldn't ever change that law. So I'm curious why are the police after her all of a sudden." Sal continued.

"Because I'm lab property.." I looked down awkwardly, feeling weird that I was now seemingly just property to some people.

"No," Sal glanced at me.
"That doesn't matter. A human is still a person, they can't just BE property like that. Something else is going on here."

"Nick!"
I could hear Sal's Mother yell from the other room.

"Yes, Ma'am?!"
Nick called back, making me clamp my hands over my ears from the volume of his voice.

He glanced down towards me when I made that action and he sat up.
I fell into his hand with a struggled yelp and he set me off to the side. I rolled into the bed and off of his hand.

"Your parents are here!" She answered him.

"Shit.." He muttered under his breath.
"I better get out there, I'll see you guys later then." He got off the bed, cutting off the laptop. Leaving it on the bed as he exited out the door with some of the boys calling back their farewells to him.

I pushed myself up when the door clicked shut, then glanced back in Sal's and Alton's direction when they began talking again.

"Should we ask your Mom's friend since he's a cop? Ask about the law on humans." Alton questioned, brushing his brown hair out of his eyes.

"Maybe.. The next time I see him I'll ask." Sal looked down to his hands.

I looked down to the soft surface I stood on, I took a set on the ground that was the huge bed, thinking to myself quietly.
How easy was it to have possession of a human? With there being less and less of us, I would imagine it would be hard to find them. I, on the other hand, was trapped. But if that's when the apocalypse started, then why were there traps already up..

"How... How do you get to the human world from here?" I questioned without looking at either of them, not wanting to feel pressured for speaking up. I was tired of feeling scared all the time!

"Oh, you would just go through the portal." Sal answered casually like that was a normal thing to talk about. To him, it may be.

"A portal? You really go through a portal?" I questioned him with amazement in my voice, looking up to Sal this time, who sat across the room.

"That's what divides our dimensions." Alton cut in.

"If you want to be formal about it, It's called the Radutal." (R.D.U.T.L. - Ra-Dut-Al)
Sal glanced towards Alton then back to me.
"It stands for..." Sal looked up, squinting his eyes, trying very hard to recall its meaning.
"Reversed, Dimension, Undercover.." He closed his eyes, looking down.
"Damn, what was the rest?" He mumbled, running his hand through his short, blonde hair.

"Transporter Link." Alton finished for him, rubbing his hands together.

"Yeah, so in the human realm they are disguised normally as street lights. Since humans wasn't suppose to know about us in the beginning. But the Radutals are property of the CTO. So very few of us have one, because they wanted to prevent the power to go into the human realm to be in the wrong hands. But something went wrong, and now the exact thing that they've been trying to prevent has happened. Cannibals escaped into the human realm." Sal explained.

So, there was a connection between the two dimensions, a group of giants, Novians going into the human realm and they some how lost their control over the travel between the two worlds. I took a breath as I was about to ask who the CTO was, another voice came out stronger than mine.

"Boys! Come get your breakfast!" Sal's mother yelled from the other side of the door.

I held my breath for a second while the boys stood, their attention taken away from me.
I exhaled, giving up on the question.
