I hate running. Have I ever expressed how much I hated PE? PE literally stands for Pointless Exercise.

"So this whole thing was Zeus's fault?" Sadie panted.

     "Pretty much." Replied Leo.

     "Isn't everything?" Percy sighed.

Usually we wouldn't really need to run. But these things were fast, and we could hear them. I could sense them. There was about five feet between our group and the beasts.

"Is there a way to kill them so that they stay dead?" Asked Sam.

"Not that I know of." Said Leo.

"Well, when I killed them, they stayed dead for about 10 minutes, give or take." Sadie explained.

"So if we kill them we can get a bit of a head start." Said Zia.

"And we can create a plan." Added Annabeth.

We came to a stop, as I put my hands on my knees. I looked up, and I could see the bushes start to rustle.

"Here we go." I sighed as I unsheathed my Stygian Iron blade.

They both jumped out in unison. Their eyes were blood red. The Teumessian fox's fur was a dark beet red color. Its ears and paws were black. The Laelaps's fur was snowy white, and it had brown spots blotting it. They were about the size of a school bus, give or take a few feet. Jack started singing 'Who Let The Dogs Out,' as the fight began.

Alex started to climb a tree, (I have no idea why). Walt took a deep breath, and touched the Fox that was chomping at Percy. Nothing happened, as it turned its attention towards him. I jumped into the chaos next to Wall in order to try and help him. My blade hit the Fox's sharp teeth. Then I heard a high pitched ringing sound as my blade bounced back, shaking in vibration.

"Gods." I winced.

I opened one eye to see that the Fox and Dog seemed to temporarily loose control. The color of their eyes wavered for a second, turning blue. I looked around at everybody else. Jason, lost the glazed look in his eyes, as the sound echoed on. As soon as the ringing stopped they continued to try and bite our faces off. Annabeth suddenly appeared below the Fox, and she drove her blade up. The Fox howled as it turned into a pile of red dust. When I looked away towards the Dog, I saw Alex jump down from her tree. She landed on the back of the monster, and decapitated it using her garrote wire. She landed on the pile of white dust left behind by the beast.

"Well, that was easy." Alex groaned, as she got up painfully.

"Now we know how to temporarily distract those things." Walt said, as everyone looked at me.

"And something else." I said looking at Jason. His blue eyes were back.

"What happened?" He asked totally confused. "Did I get hit with a brick again?"

"We'll explain it all later bud." Percy patted his shoulder.

Piper hugged him, as Jason embraced back.

"Glad to have you back bro." Leo smiled.

"So about the Fox and Dog." I started, once everyone finished their reunions. "All we need is one of their teeth and my blade." I looked at the pile of dust.

"You know, if that dog wasn't hell-bent on killing me I probably would've adopted it." Magnus said.

"That's it!" Annabeth smiled.

"We adopt it?" Percy asked, confused.

"You're such an idiot." I shook my head.

"No, when Nico made that noise, it looked like they turned back into their original selves." Annabeth said, "so maybe if we can emit a loud and large enough sound they'll go back to who they were before."

"And that means that they'll go back to trying to kill each other." Carter finished.

"I'll just leave the heavy thinking to you guys." Percy said.

"So we just need to yank a tooth out of their mouths, you know, the mouths that have tried to chomp us to bits." Sam asked.

"Why does everything have to be so hard?" Whined Leo.
