I left the group. I had to see Will one last time. Just in case this would be my last quest. He told me he'd be at our spot in the woods.
When I got there I yelped in surprise.
There were fairy lights decorating the trees. Small red roses snaked around the area. Blood red petals were spread everywhere. The light danced around the spot. The trees were enclosed at the top, the sun filtered out like a disco ball.
And in the middle of it all was Will. My Will.
His blonde hair looked golden in the sun. There was a deep red blush on his smiling face. He was wearing a Camp Half-Blood shirt with Khaki shorts. He was holding a bouquet of assorted flowers.
"Hey." He said.
"Hi." I replied, scratching the back of my neck. "Who's all this for?"
"You." Will smiled.
That smile. That smile filled me up with a warm, fuzzy feeling. I could feel my cheeks start to burn sheepishly. He handed me the flowers.
"You didn't need to do all of this for me." I stared at my feet.
"Well, you're going off on an important quest, and I've got no idea when you'll be back. Or-" he paused. I brought my gaze back to his face. His eyes were glazed, it looked like he was blinking back tears.
I walked towards him, and reached a hand up to his face; my other held the flowers. I used my thumb and wiped the stray tears from his face.
"Will, I will come back to you." I said, surprising myself.
"Promise?" He looked into my eyes.
"Promise. And I'll make it Dam hard for any monster to drag my down. And remember?" I smiled, "son of Hades."
I didn't realize it, but we were standing so close to each other. I was breathing in the same air as Will. His face was dusted with freckles, that I didn't notice. His gaze dropped down to my lips, and I found myself lowering my gaze towards his.
He leaned in.
And I let him, as I dropped the flowers.
His lips touched mine.
At first it was like he didn't want to kiss me. His lips were hard. Then they softened. Our mouths opened up. I winded my hands in his golden, soft, hair. His strong arms were holding me close. We moved in sync. It started out sweet, but then it grew with passion.
"Oh my gods." Gasped a voice that sounded similar to Thalia Grace's.
We sprang apart.
"I called it." She laughed. "You should see the looks on your faces. Don't worry, you guys didn't commit a crime or anything."
"Thalia." I grumbled, putting my facade back on that Will had broken. "What. Do. You. Want."
"Calm down Death Boy," she said. "The guys are getting ready to leave."
"I'll be right there." I said.
She seemed to get the message as she walked out of the woods muttering.
I turned my attention back to Will.
My Will.
I enveloped him in a hug.
"I'll miss you." He said, stroking my hair.
"Me too." I sighed.
"So, what are we," he started. "Boyfriends? Significant Others?"
"Significant annoyance in your case." I grinned.
He laughed as we broke apart.
"See you soon Nico Di Angelo." He smiled.
"See you later." I said. "I swear it on River Styx."
I hoped with all my heart that I could keep that promise. I needed to survive this quest. If not for myself, for Will. My body already missed the presence of his. I grabbed the flowers off of the ground; planning on dropping by my cabin to put them away.
"Until next time." I waved.
I turned around, and started to walk. I looked back, and saw Will. Standing there. Staring at me, his eyes filled with love, longing and adoration.
