The rest of the week went my uneventful. Elsa and Jack would talk every night after that Saturday and Hans left her alone the rest of the school year. Jack was back working at the ice cream parlor for the summer, so they would only talk in the evenings. They never talked about their appearances though. It was a touchy subject. They felt like they knew each other all their lives, but that they were still strangers. Their physical features were more like a secret.
Jack was working at the ice cream shop when Tooth came in. She smiled as she approached the counter. "Hey Jack!"
"Hey! What's up?"
"Just the sun! Seriously Jack, you're missing out on summer! Our last summer before collage!"
"Yeah, but this collage boy has to save up to go to school." Jack said, wiping the counter down.
"You know, I heard there was a job opening in the Norway school district. Then you won't have to wait for the gas station to bring you back."
"I'm listening," Jack said, looking at her.
"It's at the ice skating rink, they need people to sell cotton candy and popcorn and stuff in the stands. Easy cash."
"Hmm, what are the hours?"
"Only in the evenings, for the shows. Probably about 2-3 hours. You get 50% of everything you sell."
That was a good deal. "Okay, put a word in for me?"
"Sure, but you need to apply yourself."
"Of course."
"Okay, strawberry."
"What?"
"Strawberry ice cream, you still work here you know."

Anna knew all about the Hans incident. Elsa made sure to tell her the details, but she didn't mention Jack coming to her rescue. That would only start questions, and Anna was already full of them.
She felt bad about not telling her sister about Jack when she had told her about Kristoff. They had gotten together finally. He was a sweet guy and he was over a lot. With summer here, he was always spending time at their house. He did have a job at the ice rink. He ran the machine that smoothed the ice down almost every night. He was offered the job by Anna and Elsa's father, who owned the ice rink.
The doorbell rang.
"Anna!" Elsa yelled from the couch.
"I hear it!" Anna yelled back, coming down the stairs.
She opened the door. "Hi Kristoff," she blushed.
He pushed a strand of hair behind her ear, "Hey, Princess."
A giggle escaped her lips as she led him inside.
Elsa gave a little wave as he passed by, "Hey."
"Nice to see you, Elsa," he greeted.
"You too," she smiled as Anna pulled him into the kitchen, probably to make sandwiches or something.
Elsa got a beep on her phone. A text. It was Jack.
Jack: Got a job in the evenings now. Won't be able to call tonite. :(
Elsa: okay I'm busy too. Have a show tonight
Jack: good luck :D
Elsa: thanks :)
Elsa put her phone down and wondered where he was working. It was going to be hard to talk to him now. For some reason, that made her sad.

Jack applied at the ice rink after his shift at the ice cream parlor. He easily got accepted and had work that night. That was fine. He didn't have any plans besides calling Elsa. He texted her the news and luckily she was busy as well. It made him feel less like he was ditching her.
This made it harder to talk to her though. He didn't know why, but he felt a ping in his stomach of sadness. He didn't know if he liked this girl he was talking to on the phone. He had never seen her or even knew what she looked like, how could he miss her? This was crazy.
He pushed his thoughts aside and waited for his next shift to start.

Elsa did have a job. Sort of. She did performances at the ice skating rink a few evenings in the summer. Sure her dad owned the place, but he paid her for her work. It was a legitimate job. He paid other skaters to perform there. Tonight she had a performance. She practiced throughout the week. Today was Thursday. She usually worked Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays when she was free.
Their next performance started at 7 and went till 8:30. It was 5:46.
She didn't have anything to do, so she decided to go practice till show time.
"Anna! I'm going to the rink! You'll be okay?"
"Yeah!" Anna yelled from the kitchen.
Elsa grabbed her keys and went to her car. She drove to the rink, put on her light blue uniform, and practiced her routine.
❄❄❄
Jack went to the rink early where he received his uniform and his tray. He filled it and went out to the stands not having anything else to do. He watched some of the skaters practicing. They were all very pretty in their sparkly outfits and makeup.
He noticed one in a light blue, almost white, ice skating dress. She seemed to move more elegantly than the others, though she also seemed younger too. She had white blonde hair up in a braided bun. Her skin was very pale and she was very slender. He couldn't tell what color her eyes were from where he was standing but she almost looked familiar.
