Chapter Eight.

MY DREAM ENDED abruptly, as I was shaken back into reality. My eyelids flickered open to the unlit room. I laid on my couch, debating whether or not I should get up. I let out an exasperated sigh, groaning as I rolled off the couch. I've been waking up in the middle of the night very often lately, walking into the kitchen I grabbed a bottled water from out of the fridge before sitting back on the couch and turning on the tv. I skimmed through the channels before landing on the local news channel.

"Five people are dead, and four more remain in the hospital after a shooting in East Main Street as Michael Coleman reports it all started after a driveby at a party," The newswoman said, as it skipped to the person being interviewed.

"This is the first time that I knew of nine people being shot at one scene," The man stated. "This is crazy."

Kelani came down the stairs sitting down on the couch beside me. "What are you watching? And why are you up so late? How was your date with, Chris?"

"There was a shooting," I answered, it was very heartbreaking to hear that people had to lose their lives because of someone wanting to be reckless. "And, I was thirsty so I got up to get something to drink and just started watching tv. My date with Chris was pretty fun actually, he's a very interesting guy."

"You know that's where Gael hangs out? He told me he was going to some type of party over there," Kehlani pulled out her phone, and begin dialing his number but there was no answer. "Bro, why the hell isn't he answering."

Kehlani just kept calling his number but he didn't pick up the phone, I was starting to freak out along with Kehlani. "I was just at that party a few hours ago with, Chris," I said, causing Kehlani to look up at me.

"Did you see Gael there?" Kehlani asked, still dialing his number.

"Yeah, but I had left because he was feeling some type of way," I answered, feeling like a complete idiot. "I should've stayed. I figured something was up with him but I decided to just ignore it."

"I'm glad you didn't stay, I don't know what I what've done if something happened to you while you were at that party," Kehlani said. "I know Gael is smart enough to make the right decisions. We gotta go look for him." Kehlani pulled on her house slippers before grabbing her keys from out of the bowl on the coffee table. I just threw back on my shoes before following her out the door.
