Chapter Twelve.
[Recap]: "Wassup, Priya?"
I SIMPLY CANNOT find the words to convey how happy I was right now just hearing from my little brother. "How are you doing, Priya?" Gael said through the phone, I couldn't believe this right now.
"I should be asking you that," I muttered. "What the hell, Gael. Why haven't you been answering my phone calls?"
"I'm doing better," Gael stated. "I was just trying to get my shit together. I was going through something that was very hard for me to explain and I truly do apologize for shutting you out."
"What is it that you were going through?" I asked. "You know out of all people I would be here to listen like I always am. I just don't understand why you couldn't just talk to me."
"I don't know why it's so hard for me to talk to you about this," Gael said. "Can we just talk about this in person? I can come over there in the morning and it would also give me a chance to talk with Kehlani as well. I think it's finally time for me to get this off my chest."
"You know you're always welcome here," I said. "This is still your home, you don't have to feel the need to ask if you could stop by. But, let's make this happen, I'm glad that I'm getting to talk with you. You had me worried sick."
"I know," Gael sighed. "I'll see you tomorrow." Before I could say anything else, Gael had already hung up the phone. It's so crazy how all of this just happened. I can't wait to hear what he has to say.

I awoke to soft sheets, and the morning light trickled in through the blinds. My eyes were still shut as I soaked in the warmth of my covers before letting my eyes see the sunlight. I got up from my bed and slid on my house slippers before making my way towards the kitchen. "Good-morning, Priya. How did you sleep?" My mother asked as she flipped the bacon in the pan.
"Not that well," I truthfully answered, all I could think about was the phone call with Gael. I guess I was way too excited to finally see him again. "It smells good in here."
"What's been on your mind?" My mother asked. It was like my mother wasn't really bothered by the fact that Gael hasn't been in touch with the family for weeks.
"I talked to Gael last-night," I said causing my mother to just nod her head.
"And, what did he say?" My mother asked, placing the bacon on the plate with the eggs before placing it in front of me. "Is he finally coming to an understanding that the shit he doing isn't alright or is it stillthe hell with us?"
"You know how Gael gets momma," I ate a piece of bacon. "I feel with him it's harder for him to express his emotions towards anybody which led to how he's acting now. But, can you really blame him for not coming back home?"
