Chapter Seventeen.

I STARED AT the blunt between my fingers. It was almost short enough to burn me. With an effort, I leaned forward to crush it out. "Yo, what's up?" Ezekial came into the room freaking out, I didn't know what was going on with him.

"Where have you guys been?" I asked. "What's up?"

"It's Dre," Noonie stated, wiping her tears. "He was arguing with some guy and everything escalated."

"Man, stop beating around the bush and tell me what happened," I was starting to become worried. They come in here crying and shit and not letting me know what the fuck happened.

"Everything happened so fast," Noonie answered. "Guns were fired and..."

Noonie couldn't do anything but cry, I really didn't want to hear what she was about to say. I already knew it was going to fuck me up. Ezekial even looked upset so I knew something serious had to happen. "Dre was shot," Ezekial managed to let out.

Hearing those words, felt like I've been shot right in the heart. I always wondered how much shit God wanted to put me through. "What do you mean? I was just talking to him earlier. How could you let this happen?"

Ezekial stared at me as if he was confused. "I didn't let shit happen, don't go around blaming me for shit."

"You were the one that was supposed to be with him, nigga!" I grew angry, punching the wall. "You were supposed to have his back if shit went down. You can't even trust niggas to have your back anymore these days."

Ezekial shook his head, staring at me in disbelief. Noonie decided to speak up, but was interrupted by Ezekiel. "I can't believe that you would think poorly of me like that, you know I always had your cousins back. How are you going to sit here and blame me for this shit? I can't believe you man, I'm just as hurt as you are."

"Instead of blaming-"

I interrupted her, as I held onto my fist that was now throbbing in pain. "Where is my cousin? What hospital?"

"Saint Jones," Noonie wiped her tears, I didn't mean to come off so rude towards anybody but that's the only real family member that I got left. "But-"

"I'm coming with you," Ezekial said causing me to stop him. I didn't want him going anywhere with me. Ezekial looked at me sideways, I sorry if I'm being hard on him, but I needed some time to be alone.

I quickly grabbed my jacket and my keys from off of the stand near the door and ran out the front door towards my truck. I couldn't imagine anything happening to my cousin. My cousin is like the older brother I never had. He's the only relative that understands me and has gone through the same shit that I have. I don't know what I'll do if I lost him, man.

I hated hospitals. The smell, the sight, everything... I hated everything about it, nothing good ever came out of these hospitals. The last time I was here, I found out that my momma didn't make it. "Is there an Andre Bullock here?" I asked the receptionist who was ignoring the hell out of me.
