Chapter Twenty.
[Recap]: "Please say something, Priya..."
CHRIS KNEW WHAT he was doing and he knew it would hurt me but somehow that still didn't stop him. I trusted him, but now his words mean nothing to me because his actions spoke the truth. All this time I've been stressing wondering if he's okay and this is the type of shit I get in return.
"Are you going to say anything? It didn't mean anything. I didn't want to keep this from you knowing where we stand." Chris explained, but nothing he was saying was making sense to me.
"I can't deal with this right now, I have to go."
"Please, just hear me out for a second," Chris grabbed my hand, but I snatched it away. "Don't do that man, I told you that it didn't mean anything. You're the only girl that I care about, nobody else."
"Nothing you can say can justify you sleeping with someone, I'm just not about to sit here and act as if I can just get over this and jump back into what we had. I can't... I'm sorry... I just can't," I got up from the couch but Chris stood in front of the door so that I couldn't leave.
"Nah, you're not leaving until we talk about this," Chris stared in my face but I just looked away. "I don't know how many times I could apologize in order for you to forgive me. But I can't lose you either, Priya. I'm going through a lot right no-"
"I get that you're going through a lot and I wish you didn't have to go through this, but everybody has problems that they're dealing with. Shit, I even have my own problems, but that doesn't-never-mind," I stopped what I was saying, I didn't want to say something that I was going to regret.
"No, tell me what you were going to say," Chris stared at me but I wasn't trying to make eye contact with him. "How can we have something great and now you're not even acknowledging me. I need you in my life and I never needed anybody before but I need you, Priya. You're the first girl that understands what I'm going through. You're my best friend."
I looked down at my hands trying to hold back my tears. This right here did hurt me badly because sadly I was starting to catch feelings for this kid and now I don't even know what to feel. "I can't do this right now with you, Chris. Maybe we need a break away from each other just to think about things. I'll talk to you later."
"No we don't," Chris stated. "We don't need a break away from each other. I can admit that I fucked up, but what more can I say or do to make you understand that I'm sorry."
"You can let me have this break away from this. Just let me think about things for a bit because as of right now I don't want to be here and say something that I know I'm going to regret."
