Chapter One.

I FINALLY ARRIVED in Tampa Florida, it feels like I haven't been back here in a long time. When I decided to attend Howard University. I had to make that tough decision to leave my family behind. Now I'm finally back in my hometown, Man how much did I miss being back home.

After gathering my bags from the trunk of the Uber car, I made my way to the front door. "Have a nice day, sir." I waved as the uber driver smiled and drove away.

I knocked on the door and waited patiently until my mother finally came and opened the door. "Who's at the d-" My mother looked at me. "I must be dreaming. Priya is it really you?"

"Yes mama," I smiled. "Are you excited to see me?"

"Oh my gosh. I've missed you so much baby girl," My mother hugged me tightly. "Let me get your bags for you."

"No, I got it, momma," I grabbed my bags and carried them in the house. "Where is the old man?"

"He's on another business trip as usual," My sister walked into the living room. "Forgot all about your big sister didn't you?"

My father is a lawyer, so he attends a lot of business meetings.

"How could I forget about you," I hugged her. "I missed you so much, Pookie."

"I hate that nickname, Priya," She rolled her eyes, causing me to laugh. "I missed you too."

My sister and I are three years apart, when I was growing up she was the overprotective sister, that no one liked. I didn't really mind that she was protective of me because well- I'm her little sister and that's just how she acted. "I didn't like the nickname you had for me growing up," I stated. "What kind of name is noodles?"

"Girls, are you hungry?" My mother asked. "After that long trip of yours, Priya, I know you're hungry. I can warm up something."

"That would be great, I've missed your home-cooked meals," I smiled. "Thank you."

"I'm always hungry Mama," Kehlani rubbed her stomach. "Thank you, my love."

"It's not a problem," My mother laughed. "I'm so glad to see you though, Priya."

I smiled. "So..." Kehlani spoke. "How is school going for you? You meet any fine brothers down there?"

"That's all you think about, Keh," I joked. "I will say this though, there were some cute boys but I didn't actually approach them, you know I'm a chicken. You will not catch me doing anything like that. But school is going good, I'm getting to further my education in something that I'm really passionate about and plus, It's my last year before I graduate. So, who wouldn't be excited?"

"Aw, how could I forget? You were always a chicken shit, but you're a beautiful young woman, you could shoot your shot with any guy and they would be falling to their knees," My sister said, causing me to chuckle. "But, Priya, I'm really proud of you...you know that right? I know I don't say it much but I really am. You got to do what I always imagined myself doing. But when I got pregnant with Khalil, I didn't know if I could even go to college and I didn't even finish high school."
