More writter's block on other stories means an update on this one. If you guys enjoy reading this, you better hope I keep getting writter's block on those other books (actually no, don't do that. I really need to figure something out for those books).
Oh and I included a picture of one of the characters that will appear in this chapter so you'll know what he looks like.
____________________________________Years. He had been a slave for years. He'd escaped only to find himself falling into some sort of ancient library. Edward didn't really recognize the place at all. As Edward woke up from his fall, he took in his surroundings. His mind was sharp considering his age, so he decided to get up and explore the strange library. As Edward walked he was startled by the floating figure that suddenly appeared in front of him.
"Facial recognition complete. Processing information. Transferring data," the little floating machine said. Edward stared at it in wonder, his now natural intrest in nasods causing him to be drawn closer to the machine. But when Edward got closer to the small floating machine it moved forward an tapped his head with its own. Electrical shocks started to run through him prompting him to cry out in pain. It wasn't long before he could no longer handle it and passed out.
He woke up in panic only to find the same machine floating in front of him. Instinctively, Edward backed away from it. "I am Dynamo, a nasod servant. I require the imput of a name for me to continue my programing," the small floating nasod said.
"What?" Edward asked. He was quite confused and still a little cautious of the nasod.
"Name input required. Please input name," Dynamo spoke.
"Edward. My name is Edward Grenore," Edward answered. Dynamo paused for a second and its screen glitched a little.
"Name input successful. Welcome, Add," Dynamo said.
"Wait what? That's not what I said!" Edward said.
"Was my name input incorrect? Repeat the correct name input please," Dynamo said in its digital voice.
"Edward Grenore," Edward said, leaving off any excess words thinking that they might have caused Dynamo to get his name wrong.
"Input successful. Welcome, Add," Dynamo said.
Edward narrowed his eyes at the machine and sighed. "I said. Edward. Grenore," he muttered in frustration.
"Yes, that is what I inputted. Add," Dynamo confirmed.
Edward facepalmed. "Yeah okay. Call me that. I don't care. Just tell me where I am."
"You are in a library full of information in the feild of nasods and many more topics related to the research of nasods," Dynamo informed. Edward stared at the nasod.
"Can you get me out of here?" he asked.
"Indeed. It is my duty to fulfill the wishes of my programing and assist my master. I am to help you teleport out of this library," Dynamo replied.
"Okay. How?" Edward asked. The small nasod didn't seem capable of such, so of course Edward doubted him.
"Follow me, Add. I will lead you to the library's energy source. I will input my programing, and the energy source should be enough to get us out of here," Dynamo said. It turned around and floated away, leaving Edward to catch up.
"Hey, wait! And stop calling me that!" Edward said as he stood and ran after the small floating nasod. When he did catch up to Dynamo it continued to lead him to the library's power source.
"This is the library's power source. It will allow me to help you escape the library," Dynamo said. The power source was surrounded by circular bookshelves that spiraled throughout the entire library. "Configuration complete. Transport will take place in a moment," Dynamo said as it floated over to Edward.
"Where will we go?" Edward didn't exactly have a destination in mind, but he still wanted to know.
"I will take you home," Dynamo stated. The room filled with light that overflowed from the library's energy source. Just before Edward closed his eyes, he thought he saw something other than himself and Dynamo being engulfed in the bright light. He couldn't be sure since the scenery changed and he found himself standing in...a forest?
"Dynamo where are we?" Edward asked his new companion.
"We are on the soil that is the same as your home in what I believe to be the forest of...scanning area...Elder. We are also 300 years in the future. A lot of things have changed since then," Dynamo replied. Edward stood there processing what Dynamo had just told him.
"Oh...okay....hold on a second...did you say 300 years?" Edward said as he thought.
"Yes, Master Add. I said 300 years," Dynamo said. Edward didn't seem too stunned by this bit of information. He hadn't even noticed what Dynamo had called him either. The loads of data and knowledge that had been forced into his mind had caused him to mature just a little bit. He didn't panic like he might have done if his sudden curiosity hadn't kicked in just then. Not only that, but Edward realized that the mansion he once knew was no longer there.
"I can't go by my regular name. Someone might recognize it. But it's been 300 years though. But I can't risk anyone figuring out who I am. I guess I could use the name that Dynamo gave me. Yes, that's it. That's what I'll do," Edward mumbled to himself as he was lost deep in thought.
"Add?" Dynamo said snapping him from his thoughts.
"What?" he responded. It was a little weird responding to a different name, but Edward decided that he would just have to get used to it."I detect that we're being watched. We should leave the area immediately." Dynamo held a degree of warning in his digital voice.
"Yeah whatever. Let's go check this Elder place out," Edward, no Add said. Yes, he would go by Add. He'd have to forget the name he was once called and burn the new one into his memory to replace the old one. When he started walking, he then realized what Dynamo meant. He felt himself being watched, and it wasn't a pleasant feeling. As he walked behind Dynamo, who was leading him to Elder, he also noticed that whoever was watching him was following him as well. Add decided that he would confront them later and focus at his current task for now.
When he saw Elder though, he soon forgot about being followed. Add hadn't seen a city in who knows how long. When they reached it, it was Dynamo that had to speed up to keep himself from getting lost in the crowd that Add easliy wove through. Add may have been smarter than his age, but his twelve year old instincts took over the moment he set eyes on Elder. In that moment, he was truly a child if only for a short time.
