Sleep was still hard to achieve even if he was tired. When he did finally go to sleep though, he stayed alseep for quite a while but it wasn't a pleasant sleep at all. He relived the day that he was taken away from the mansion and he especially remembered seeing (y/n) almost die right in front of him. The music box's tune filled his head once more. Back then, he hated hearing the tune that it played, but now he loved that tune. It was the same one that (y/n) hummed whenever she used her power to ease him into a pleasant sleep.

Even though that tune had been connected to such a bad memory, he could never find it in himself to tell (y/n) that he didn't want her to hum the tune. In fact, she still had the music box, but she hardly ever opened it anymore. That being said, when Add did wake up and still heard the music box playing in his mind, he panicked a little, thinking that the nightmare wasn't over. He carefully opened the door to his room and listened for where the sound was coming from.

It wasn't (y/n)'s room. Instead it was the room that he'd designated for his work area. He was about to walk in to see that (y/n) was at her desk and had fallen asleep to the sound of the still open music box. Well...that's what he wanted to see when he walked in. Instead, he got a sight far worse than that. (Y/n) was actually on the floor, dead and bleeding. The music box that was open next to her had some of her blood on it as well. Add couldn't say anything. He was too shocked and in disbelief. The only thing he could to was drop to his knees next to her as he fought tears. "No, this isn't real. This couldn't have actually happened," Add said to himself.

"Oh but it is real," someone from behind him spoke. Add whipped around to face the person who'd spoken and instantly froze.

"Surprised to see me? You know who I am don't you," the person said.

"No...you aren't. You can't be," Add breathed, but it was painfully obvious who he was.

"You know it's true though don't you. I'm you. Or at least what you'll end up being," the person said.

"But...(y/n). You killed her didn't you?" Add whimpered. He couldn't hold back his tears anymore. (Y/n) was too important for him not to mourn her death. She was his world, and she didn't even know it.

"Yes, you did kill her," the person sneered.

"No...I didn't kill her. You did. You did this," Add denied. He would never harm (y/n), never.

"Didn't I already tell you. I am you. You killed her," the person reiterated.

"I'll never be you and you aren't me!" Add snapped through his tears.

"Fine then. Don't accept it. You will eventually. For now, you can just call me Esper. I'll see you in the future when you become me okay," Esper said with a slightly sinister smile.

"But why? Why did you kill her? Why her?" Add asked. He didn't understand. (Y/n) couldn't have done anything to deserve this. Esper looked at him curiously with those strange eyes of his.

"I thought you would ask me that eventually. The truth is, she was such a hindrance to our true goal. Because of her, we weren't able to save mother. We were too distracted by her, so I eliminated the problem. You're welcome. She was making us so weak," Esper explained.

"But I..." Add tried to say but he couldn't. It was too painful to even think about saying now that (y/n) was gone.

"You loved her? Is that it? Was that what you were going to say?" Esper gave a short laugh. "Don't even waste your breath. You only kept her around because she was useful. That's why I waited until this exact time to get rid of her. The time travel equation is complete. You don't need her anymore. Don't you see? Nothing will be in our way. We'll be able to save mother and-"

"I'll kill you," Add whispered. His sorrow morphed into boiling anger faster than one could blink.

"What?" Esper did blink couple times as actual confusion showed up on his face. Add stood up and faced Esper, his dynamos floated to him and circled him. "I'll kill you," Add seethed. His rage was doing its best to fight quell the longing for grief that still remained.

"Now you're just being foolish. What good would killing me do. Besides, you can't. You're not anywhere near skilled enough to do that," Esper said. Add lunged at him regardless of his words, but Esper charged forward too and suddenly disappeared. Only a few seconds later, Esper reappeared behind Add and pulled him back by his cat hood. Before Add could react, he was surrounded by foreign dynamos and trapped into Esper's hold. "Stubborn as always. If I didn't value my own well-being, I would have done some real damage to you." Esper's hand suddenly gripped Add's neck, temporarily cutting off his air. "Why don't you just take a nap for a bit?" Esper spoke almost as if asking. And then he rendered the helpless Add unconscious with little to no effort.

Add woke up findng himself in his room in his bed, but that nightmare seemed to vivid and the emotions he felt still pulled at his heart. He jumped out of bed and ran to the door, opening it quickly without any regards to what he might walk in to see when he reached the room he was running to. He only hoped that it wasn't the same. Then he heard his voice, Esper's voice and he knew immediately that he'd somehow gotten a second chance.

Add swung the door open, immediately spotting (y/n) who was looking at Esper with an expression of pure terror. Add didn't have time to bring his dynamos to him and Esper valued his own well being, so Add didn't hesitate to step in front of Esper before he could strike (y/n). Just as Add had predicted Esper didn't attack with him standing in front of (y/n) and actually seemed surprised that Add was even there.

"Move," Esper ordered. He sounded far more threatening than in the nightmare that foretold these events.

"I'd rather die," Add growled, completely serious about accepting death. (Y/n) just stayed behind him and unconsciously grabbed hold of his clothing for security. Esper glared at Add but otherwise did nothing else.

"I suppose she can stay for now, but I'll be back," Esper spoke. He disappeared into a portal of some sort shortly afterwards. Even when he did leave, Add didn't move just in case he came back. When her heard (y/n)'s sniffles, the beginnings of her crying, only then did he move.

He turned to face her not hesitating to pull her into a tight hug as if she had just died because to him, she already had. And yet here she was alive and well. "Add, he came out of nowhere. I tried to use telepathy to reach you but I panicked and did the wrong thing. I saw what happened. I saw into the future where I died..." (y/n) said as she cried onto his shirt.

"I think I did too," Add thought to himself once he considered what had happened. It was possible that in her moment of distress, (y/n) had been able to do such a thing. Add said nothing more to her. The trauma from such a nightmare had him trembling despite the turn of events. They stayed there in that embrace until they had calmed down enough to speak and think clearly.

"What now? He said he'd come back," (y/n) wondered.

"For now, we need to continue on. When I'm able to time travel, he'll probably come back. I'll be waiting for him, and when he comes back, I'll make sure that he doesn't hurt you. And you'll be able to fight back too. I'll make sure of it. And when this is all over, we'll go save my mother," Add said. That was the plan...but plans did not always work out the way they are intended.
