Ben's POV
I couldn't believe Danny would say such a thing. He knew how much I love Alisha, and he'd supported me so much for the past 3 years, even hinting on when the wedding should be and who should get invited. Now that I've done it, he was nowhere in sight and didn't agree to it full on.
I'd never been so mad at him before, even when he accidentally broke my favourite toy car when we were kids. I focused my attention on my fiancé, laughing at a joke Derek had just pulled. Robin was looking worriedly at the ocean.
"Robin? What's wrong?" I asked. Derek ran quickly to his mate's side. "I-it's just...Danny," he began. My heart dropped to my feet, "I saw him running to the ocean an hour ago, but he never resurfaced. I figured he just went exploring, but it's getting late and-"
I looked at the ocean, the wind seemed to pull me towards it. What if the waves drowned him? The thought made my feet run up to the shore. I jumped into the cold water and swam with all my might, ignoring the shouts from Alisha and Robin.
Where is he?
I looked frantically under the ocean bed, searching for a small body and brown hair. After about 10 minutes, I gave up searching on the bed and swam further, spotting a giant rock that was located a bit far from the beach. Maybe?
I swam up to the rock and circled it. My heart felt like it finally started beating again when I spotted the brown haired lad sleeping peacefully behind the rock. I climbed on to catch my breath. Swimming for a straight 20 minutes tired out my body.
I glared emptily at Danny, who continued to sleep on the rock. How can such a tiny man get me so worked up? It's always been like this. He was supposed to be the older one, why is he always making his minor worried? I sat beside his head, not leaving my eyes off of him.
When he's asleep, he looked more like a child than an adult. Unlike when he was awake, when he'd always put up a front and look like a dependable adult. Maybe that's why I always took advantage of that look, because he rarely showed me just how vulnerable he was. I never noticed how long his eyelashes are, or how soft his skin is...wait, why am I holding his face?
"Mate him!" Roux growled affectionately. My face shrivelled in disgust as I pulled away from Danny's face. "Gross. I'm not mating my best friend! I have Alisha."
I could feel Roux's head shaking disapprovingly," I told you it was a bad idea..." he spoke mysteriously. I rolled my eyes," And I told you that I don't care. You're hiding something from me, and I want to know what."
"Not possible. I myself don't know why, but I can feel that Alisha is definitely not our mate." he said. "So you tell me to mate the closest wolf around? I think you're getting too old my friend." I snarled. Roux stayed quiet and I lingered in my empty thoughts a bit.
The drowning sunlight shook me awake from my thoughts as I shoved Danny's arms meekly. "Dude, I told you I wanted you to watch..." I whined. I was mad at the guy, but what can I say? I was used to his pampering. He groaned as he opened one eye sleepily. It was cute.
He let out another groan as his hands stretched upwards," It wasn't much to look at. You just stood on one knee. Besides," His hands fell down, making their way to curl around my own, creating a bolster before his eyelids resumed it's position. I had to resist the urge to coo. There I was looking at a man almost a year older than me curling up against my arm like a baby.
"I'm sick of looking at couples all day" he spoke in a whisper, but I could hear the slight sadness in his tone. Suddenly both his eyes were open and staring blankly at my bicep. I continued to gaze at their deep colour. I'd never noticed how beautiful they were. His gaze lazily travelled up my arm to hold my own as a smirk formed on his plump lips and it made shivers run down my spine. "Worked out lately?" he teased. My cheeks tinted red in embarrassment. I wanted to look cool when I proposed, so I went to the gym and hunted with the pack more often. Yet in front of those eyes all thoughts of looking cool vanished as I got lost in them, my words forming miniscule slurs and words only available in elfish dictionaries.
The smirk slowly recessed as only a grimace took its place. His eyes glinted before he took his gaze away, staring back at my waist absently. "Shall we head back?" he whispered. Somewhere inside, Roux had whined at the idea, but I shoved his opinion aside. "..sure, I'll introduce you to my new fiancé" I smiled. To which he returned without looking at me.

Danny's POV
"Took you long enough! We're heading back; Robin's getting pretty tired." Derek growled lovingly as he kept his gaze on his half-asleep mate. I took a glance at my luna and nodded, seeing that he couldn't keep even half his eyes open. "I'll head back on my own. Ben, go take care of your fiancé, make sure you take her home safely, ok?" I lectured him as he hesitated on letting go of my shoulders. He gave an unsure glance before nodding and taking his place beside his future wife, his rightful place. Siren's howls pierced my ears as he placed a loving kiss on Alisha's lips. Maybe I should start wearing ear plugs.
Ben's eyes returned to my gaze. "Are you sure you don't want to come with us? Your house isn't that far from mine" he asked again. I looked at the hand that held firmly on Alisha's waist and shook my head slightly too desperately. "I need to finish up on some work at the office. Since someone convinced me to leave it." I glared playfully at Ben who had a guilty expression.
"Ok...Then at least text me once you get home safely ok?" I rolled my eyes, "Worry about your fiancé. You have her for a reason." I raised a brow. He nodded. Each word that I spout when he's around hurts as if I wanted them to. Which is exactly why I hate being around him, the man I love.
With that we said our goodbyes and headed our separate ways. True to my words, I returned to my office, burying myself in my work as I cried my eyes out.
The worst. This had been the worst day in my life. And it was about to get worse.
