Danny's POV
"Hey, what's wrong with you lately?" Robin frowned, his eyes filled with concern, "Ever since you got sick you've been so out of it and unresponsive. I'm starting to think your illness was worse than just a simple cold..."
I forced out a smile, "What are you talking about? I've just been stressed out catching up on history like you told me to do." Robin scoffed, "Right, like you ever cared about your grades at all."
"I'm trying to learn from Mr. Straight A Student over here."
He rolled his eyes, "Ok, nevermind. You're still Danny. Anyways, Ben and Alisha's been so LOUD with their relationship lately." The mention of the two made me stiffen in my seat, "Uh...yeah."
"I mean, they're basically announcing to everyone that they've had sex by the scent of their pheromones." I took a heavy breath and stiffled a chuckle, "Also, Ben's been growing big lately. Before at the cafeteria I greeted him and he was a head taller than me than usual. I always thought he was an omega like me, but I guess he was just a late bloomer-"
"Can we-" I shouted, making him flinch, "...talk about something else." Robin was quiet, observing my facial expression. I tried hard to keep a blank face. "...hey, something's wrong with you after all. What is it?"
I bit my lip, "It's nothing. Really. I don't want to talk about it."
"Is it because you're lonely without Ben around? He used to follow you everywhere, so I'd understand if you felt lonely." I shrugged, "Maybe that's it" I lied.
Robin's eyes lit up, "Hey! I've got an idea!" He placed his hands on my shoulder, "How about we hold a guy's night? Just us and Ben."
A slight smile gave out at the thought of that idea, "That's...actually kind of nice. I haven't properly hung out with Ben for the last two months now, since I got sick, so it might help a bit." Robin grinned, "Yeah, I kind of miss that goofball too honestly. I'll text him and tell him about it." I nodded, a little excited to finally be able to spend some time with him alone.
______
"...so why the fuck did Alisha ended up coming too." I grimaced as Robin made a bemused gesture, "I told him it was exclusively boy's night."
"hey guys!" Alisha giggled, hugging me tightly. I forced myself to look as happy as she did, "Alisha! What are you doing here?"
"Oh..well, I know it was supposed to be boy's night, but Ben insisted that it was fine that I joined you guys...I hope that's fine with you guys?"
For a second I frowned, glancing at Ben, who had a nervous expression. It was true, he'd grown so big in the last two months that he was even slightly taller than me now. It hurt me to know that I wasn't there to see it. "...It's fine. You're a part of the gang now anyway." I grinned.
Right, I need to get rid of these feelings.
"Hey guys! Ready for the party?" Derek suddenly appeared from behind the couple, shocking the four of them. "A-alpha?" Alisha stuttered. He winked flirtatiously, with a smirk etched on his face, making the two swoon a little at his greatness. I deadpanned, noticing his eyes that were shaking at the speed of flash between the couple and Robin. What is this idiot doing here?
"What are you doing here, idiot?" Robin flatly stated. Derek's eyes fixed on Robin and he scoffed, "I'm here for the party my beta is hosting. Duh. Why are you here?"
"Ok, first of all. This isn't a party. Second of all, even if it is, it's certainly not a public one at that. So you better get your perky ass out of here before I kick you out." Robin growled. Derek maintained his domineering expression and looked at me, "As far as I know, this is Danny's house, not yours. And second, I'm your soon to be alpha, so nobody can tell me what to do, especially a weak ass omega."
I sighed, not really in the mood to deal with this bullshit today, "Derek you can stay, but there's no booze so prepare yourself to be bored as hell." Derek perked up but tried to remain cool and cocky, "Guess I'll just have to manage."
"Alright, everyone come in. I'll get the juice."
______
"Hey, Danny?" Alisha called out to me as I was pouring the juice in the kitchen. It was just the two of us, with the rest sitting on the couch playing Uno. I could see from the corner of my eye Robin and Derek arguing about how they were sitting too close to each other and Ben trying horribly to calm them down.
"What's up?" I smiled looking at her. She returned the gesture, "I just wanted to see if you needed any help. Seeing as I'm barging in on your quality time with Ben." I shook my head a chuckled, "Don't worry about it. I know how clingy he gets once he latches on to someone." I was that someone for the last 15 years.
"But still...I'm grateful that you introduced us that day." she smiled, a light blush spread across her cheeks as she gazed at Ben adoringly. My chest hurts.
"You know how at that time, I wasn't in the best place." she continued, I listened to her silently, "My parents actually just got divorced, and my brother ran away from home to get married to his drug dealer girlfriend. My friends weren't very supportive of my situation and some even called me a "cursed child". At some point, I even started to..." she held her wrist tightly, her voice croaking at the end.
In an instance, I dropped the glass I was holding and held her in a tight embrace, "None of that was your fault." I whispered. I felt her chuckle and nod behind my back, "Yeah, I know. At that time, if I had never met you, maybe I wouldn't even be alive right now."I hugged her tighter, "I'm proud of the you right now."
She giggled, pulling out of the embrace, "Thanks Danny, for everything. I'm sorry I got us all emotional after not meeting for 2 months. I just, always feel like I can be myself when I'm around you."
I sighed, "what can I say, I'm the mother everyone wished they had." She giggled, a slightly sad smile etched in her face, "Yeah, you are."
"Well, anyway. Let's not start crying in the kitchen like a cliche? Everyone's gonna get worried."
"Right. Sorry, I've been really emotional these days." A thought arised from the back of my mind, but I quickly dismissed it. That's impossible.
We joined the others, handing out the juice to each of them. "Ah! No fair! You can't put down two cards in one turn!" Derek whined, "Idiot, that's how Uno works!" Robin retorted. "Pretty sure Robin's right." I joined in. Derek grumpled, looking at his cards furiously while Robin stood tall in triumph. "...stupid game."
"Alright, I think we should restart, since you guys so nicely started playing without us." I pouted. 'what? But I was just about to win..." Ben whispered, but didn't push any further. As I was reshuffling the cards, Alisha was being eerily quiet.
"Hey, babe? You alright? You look kind of pale." I heard Ben whisper beside me. I glanced over at Alisha and our eyes met. As soon as I saw her, my heart dropped as I instantly knew. Her ghostly sunken expression looked at me in panic and I did not hesitate to pull her up from her seat and rush her to the bathroom, Ben following suit in worry.
As soon as we arrived, Alisha dropped down to the floor, spilling the content of her stomach out in the toilet as we all watched in horror, Ben most of all.
