So a lot of you have been asking for updates...
Danny's POV
"What do you mean you're leaving the pack?!" my luna squealed a little too loudly. Derek's head perked up from his desk, all attention now set on me. Great.
"Danny, are you serious?" he growled as he stood up to approach me. "How could you leave me to take care of all this by myself? Dude!" he stomped angrily.
I raised my hands in surrender, "I've already arranged for a replacement. Actually I've been thinking about this for a while, 2 months now. I've always dreamed of traveling the world and I don't think I'd ever get another chance once I'm older. Besides, you guys don't need my help anymore." I smiled. And neither does Ben.
Derek let out a frustrated sigh, "And how do you know that this replacement will be able to live up to your standards?" I have to say I was a little touched. But then again, it was understandable to be hesitant on taking on a replacement whom had only trained to be the alpha's right hand man for a few months rather than the one who'd been preparing for it his whole life.
"Trust me, you'd like Peter. He's super reliable and can even finish paper work faster than me." I looked around suspiciously before leaning in to whisper, "I think he actually likes the job."
Derek glared at me as I laughed. "All jokes aside, he really is a nice kid. He'll be starting tomorrow. I'll be showing him the ropes for a few weeks before I'm gone forever."
Robin's eyes widened, "Wait, forever? You're not planning to ever visit us?!" Oops. Busted.
"That's just a figure of speech, luna." I rolled my eyes playfully, "Of course I'd come and visit my best pals."
Derek seemed hesitant at first, but he eventually caved in, "Ok then. I'll see what this new kid can do. But just so you know, I'm going to pay extra attention." He made a motion with his fingers pointing at his eyes and then to mine and I rolled my eyes. Seriously, they never grew up. At this rate my eyes are gonna roll out of their sockets.
"Wait," Robin suddenly grabbed my shoulders and turned my body towards him, "Ben is ok with this?!"
"Uhm, well" I avoided his heated gaze as I tried my best to explain the situation I'd placed myself in, "Actually...I wasn't planning on telling him."
The both of them gaped at me, their mouths so wide open flies could fly in and lay eggs on them. "Why not? You guys are basically inseparable! He'd be devastated to know you're leaving after his birthday." Robin whined.
"I'm actually going to leave before that."
"Danny, I'm going to say this because you are a very dear friend of mine and you've helped both me and Derek thorough hard times." Robin sighed.
"...ok?"
He fixed a hard gaze on me and smiled, "You're an idiot."
"Geez, luna. Harsh much?" I chuckled. A frown fell on both their faces. "Why would you leave before the night of your best friend's birthday? Can't you leave the day after?" Derek asked. I shook my head, "I'm actually catching a flight out of the country and this is the only one I managed to barely acquire. If I don't catch this flight, I'm goin to have to wait another 2 months. Which means I'll miss all the scheduled plans I've been working on."
"The the fuck do you need to follow the schedule?" Robin scowled. "Just make a new one" Derek added.
I swear this couple drives me nuts.
"Look guys. I've worked really hard for this thing and, even though I'm sad (not really) that I'm going to have to miss one of my best friend's most important day, it's not an opportunity I'm willing to pass out. So I hope you'd understand."
Both of them looked sympathetically at me. Maybe I was being paranoid, but for a while it felt like they were sympathizing with my feelings for Ben. But of course not. Because I'm straight and in love with my best friend. But Ben's straight, and he's getting married soon. So why the fuck would anyone need to symphatize me? Fuck you.
