HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Congrats you guys waited 10 years for this. A little sidenote: I appreciated everyone who messaged me to continue writing this story. Honestly It's been so long since I've sat down and written anything lately and nothing seems to be coming into mind. The things I update are usually old drafts that I edited a little rather than raw writing. I'm trying to get back my writing spirit thanks to you guys <3

~8 years later~

Ben's POV

"Alpha everything is set." I stated. Derek nodded, not looking up from his paperwork, "Well done."

The room was silent for a while but before I could even open my mouth to ask him, he threw the paper he was writing on to his desk and looked straight into my eyes.

"Judging by the fact that you haven't left; I assume you want a different answer to your previous question?" Derek questioned precisely. I nodded.

"I need to find him."

He sighed, "For the last time, I hope, I don't know his whereabouts nor will I let you leave the pack to find him. Hell, it's been 8 fucking years Ben, do you really think he'd stay in touch with the pack he left behind?"

"I'm not asking if he kept in touch with you. I'm asking if he kept in touch with Robin." I growled impatiently. Derek's eyebrows twitched at the mention of his mate.

"Then why not ask him directly? It's not like I know everything about my mate's social life." he seemed rather irked. I brushed off the feeling that something wasn't right with their current relationship, considering mine was rather nonexistent.

"I would. If you hadn't contained him in the pack house this whole time with the pups." Ever since the birth of the twin alphas Derek had been a little on edge around his mate and children. The rest of the pack had created a silent rule to avoid the luna and future alphas as much as possible.

Derek stayed silent, as if contemplating something in his head. "...fine. I'll let you guys talk for an hour." he emphasized on the hour. I felt my lips crinkle in a smile after a long time. When was the last time I smiled?

"I'll inform the guards to allow you an hour meeting with him. I'll also tell him your on your way since you've done all your task as beta."

I watched him space out for a minute, meaning he must be mind-linking them. "Alright, it's done." he said after a while. I could've hugged him at that moment, but instead I ran out the door so fast I saw his papers fly away behind me and a silent scream cursing at me.

I arrived at the pack house in a matter of minutes despite the hill that separated it from my previous location. The guards bowed to me as I returned the gesture and opened the door. As soon as I took a step in, two pairs of hands latched onto each of my legs and small giggles followed after.

"Uncle Ben!!!" The smaller of the two squealed. I ruffled his hair lightly, loving all the attention I was getting. "Hey guys, how've you been?"

"You haven't visited since foreveeer" San pouted. I chuckled, admiring the cuteness of the elder twin as hugged his small body that was still attached to my lower limb. "Aw no fair! I want hug too!" Nicky pouted. I used my other hand to hug the little twin and pulled them up to my waist in a swift motion.

"I've missed you guys too. You're so big now! Last time I saw you you couldn't even speak a whole sentence!" The last time I saw them was when they were only three, now they were about to turn 5. When I said Derek was being possessive, he was being possessive.

Just as I had managed to set them down, another one jumped at me, this one larger and heavier, making me tumble down the hard floor on my butt. "Shit Robin, that hurts." I groaned.

"Another person! Oh my god!" he cried, like literal tears. "No one's even been so happy to see me before. Thanks." I chuckled. Robin looked up at me with teary eyes before getting off and helping me up, "In all seriousness though, we've missed you." he smiled.

"Derek's such a worrywart. Thinking something would happen if he wasn't there with me all the time. We're even having a fight right now since I decided to sneak out for a bit last week to hang out with old friends. He's been sleeping on the couch for the last 4 days so he might be a tad cranky.

The memory of yesterday's hell came to mind and I quickly brushed off the ptsd. "Speaking of Derek, he's told you about the reason I'm visiting right?" I spoke carefully, afraid of being brushed off again.

Robin became sympathetic and even led me to sit. "Remember that day on your birthday? When I told you about Danny?" I nodded, recalling my worst memory.

"Actually, I wasn't sure either." His statement stumped me. "W-wait. What?"

"The truth was I'm not sure if I was just reading into things too much or whether it was true. When I was watching Danny's actions around you, I was sure that you were his mate. But at the same time, I watched you be completely in love with Alisha and that had me crossed. It was when I noticed the way you were avoiding Alisha after your birthday that I'd concluded Danny really is your mate."

"So you gave me advice based on an estimation??" I gaped. "Well, yea. But what I'm trying to say is that just like I wasn't sure if you guys were really mates or not, I'm also unsure if Danny even wants to be mates anymore." Hearing this broke my heart a little, the small piece that I'd cared not to lose after so many years.

"...so you guys do keep in contact?" I whispered, hoping this was just another 'estimation'. But all hopes shattered when I saw him slowly nod his head.

I felt the tears threaten to fall down and forced them to stay beneath my eyelids. "Had he ever said anything about me? Does he know that I broke up with Alisha? Or that I know he's my mate now?" I asked frantically. Again, Robin nodded.

"I've tried convincing him to come back, but he's got a new life now. Outside of the pack life." My eyes widened, "He chose to live among humans?"

"He said that he never wanted to feel rejection again. Since all wolves have a mate...." Robin hesitated to continue, "..he decided to start a family with a human."
