Danny's POV
A year into moving into Clara and Argus' household and I can clearly say that they never stopped their honeymoon period. The wife is smitten for the husband and the husband is a fool for the wife. Honestly, their smooth love life makes me want to move out faster.
"Baby, where's my jacket?" Argus whined in a baby voice. Yes, that gruff, harsh-sounding man in making baby sounds."Hmm I wonder where I put it~? I don't want you to go out too soon thought..." Clara said playfully. Usually, Clara acted like a motherly figure, but I do not know this woman.
"Can I...please go." I mumbled. They looked at me bemused. "What's happened to you?" Argus said in his normal gruff voice. "Please be more considerate of the 21-year-old virgin."
Argus cleared his voice, "Right. Well, I'm gonna head out." he kissed his wife's temple and rubbed my head. I liked when he did that. "Do you have work today, son?" he asked. I shook my head, "I got a free day today since I switched shifts with my co-worker last week."
Clara squealed, "Then that leaves us with some mother-daughter time!" I've been pretending she's been referring me to a male pronoun for a year. Yep, she definitely said son. Yep.
"Alright then have a fun day you two." Argus chuckled. "We will! Bye Argus!"
As soon as he left, Clara turned to me, "Alright! Now that he's gone, let's get this party started!"
______
We never really told Argus, but when we have these quality alone times we would always go to the grocery store and buy the most junkiest junk food they have and stuff ourselves till we dropped while watching sobby kdramas. Not my proudest moments, but I needed to let off steam somehow.
Our tradition started a few weeks after I moved in. Clara caught me crying at night because of Ben and said that instead of crying for a real boy I'll never be with it's better to cry for an imaginary man I'll never be with. And that was the beginning of a beautiful bond.
"God dammit PARK SEOJOON HOW COULD YOU" I cried out loud, "NOOO WHY WOULD HE DO THIS TO MY HEARTTT" Clara responded. We were crying out all of the 80% of water inside us over a staged injury in a drama. Beautiful friendship indeed.
I looked at my watch and my eyes widened, "Shoot, we got too into the drama. Argus is gonna be back in half an hour!" Clara quickly turned off the tv and we scurried to clean up all the junk food. Argus had a thing about being healthy after Clara experienced a warning from the doctor about her eating habits.
After we finished cleaning up, we laid down on my bed in exhaustion. "That was close. With 5 minutes to spare." I chuckled. "Good job bud" she raised her hand and I high fived her. We laid in silence for a while, me staring at the ceiling.
"Clara?" She hummed happily, "Thanks for this."
"You're getting all chummy suddenly." she laughed groggily. "I'm just...really grateful I met you guys."
Ever since I moved in, my mind hasn't been all pre-occupied by Ben. It felt like I was in a healthy state of mind for once. I still had the occasional slip-ups, but Clara was always there to make me forget. For once I never felt alone. They felt a little more like my parents than my actual parents, who were always away working.
"You know, I've never told you this. But the reason we so readily took you in that day, was because we felt a small connection with you." she chuckled, "It might be a bit weird to say this now, but we've always wanted to have children. But we found out I was infertile the day before we met you. I was in such a fragile state of mind. But then we met you, and somehow, I felt like it was fate that we took you in."
"I guess what I'm trying to say, is that I see you as my own son. So does Argus. So don't ever think that you owe us anything."
In an instant, I hugged her as tightly as I could, "I feel the same way. I love you guys."
We heard the door click open, "I'm back! What's for dinner?"
I jumped up and ran up to Argus, pushing him to the ground in a bone-crushing hug. "Woah, Danny I'm gonna die!"
I loosened my grip and smiled down at him, who was lying butt flat on the ground with a smile, "I missed you too much." He seemed taken aback by my statement, "I missed you too, son."
Son, I liked that word even more.
I got up from him and walked away, "Or maybe I was too hungry to wait for you." I teased. He gaped, "Wait, did you guys eat without me again?!"
"Can't be helped. I'll cook you an omelette since I'm a good son." I said. He seemed to have caught on to what I said and an excited grin was plastered on his face, "My son's cooking for me? Is it my birthday or what?"
I grinned, "Or what"
Hey guys I'm gonna be absent for a month starting this week because I've got finals and a ton of assignments to catch up on soon. Sorry about this but I'm really struggling with keeping up with the work right now. Promise to give a spam update afterwards.
