Chapter 26

Posted this together since this chapter is pretty short additional to chapter 25 and the end of the first flashback.

Just to let you guys know you should REALLY pay attention to the character's choice of words because I've placed A TON of hints in them about what happened in the past ever since the 8 year arc started and like, I'm lowkey bummed most of my masterpiece remains unnoticed.

One question, does anyone even still remember Robin's family? lol They play a pretty big role in the plot in the next arc tbh (Which will start in like...chapter 23234237575639)

Danny's POV

We woke up the next day, my fever all gone and Ben looking better than before. I stared at him for a while, gentle breathing against my chest. He used to be so small, but recently he had a growth spurt and is now even taller than me. It's not like we were far apart in age, but I had always seen him as my little brother. 

Now looking at him all grown up, an unknown emotion welled up inside me. His eyes fluttered open, and he gazed innocently up at me and smiled. It's good to see not everything had changed. "Morning" his husky voice whispered. I hummed, "Wanna have breakfast?" 

His grumbling stomach answered my question.

It was a good day. We walked together to school for the first time in 2 weeks, and it felt like everything went back to what it used to be. We talked about everything we missed out on, and laughed like we used to. 

As soon as we arrived to school, Alisha met up with us. "Danny, are you alright?" she looked worried, "When Ben told me you were sick I couldn't help but think something happened to you after you left..."

I smiled, "Not really, I just haven't been taking care of myself well lately." She nodded, "In any case, you should tell us if you're not feeling well, alright? It's not a good habit to keep everything inside. You told me that." she said sadly. I gave a knowing smile, "Yeah, I did"

"In any case, I'm really fine now. I gotta get to class now." Ben nodded, "Is it alright if I take Alisha to class?" I nodded, "Of course you should! You better treat my friend like a princess, got it?" He smiled with a light blush, "Ok"

The pair walked hands as they headed to their class, and my smile slowly faded away. An empty feeling on my chest as I watched the happy couple disappear from my view. 

Ben was changing somewhere I couldn't see him, and a part of me felt like I had been left behind. I know I wasn't, I know Alisha was what made him change. It was good that he changed! Right? Of course it is. It's not like he will always be the same small shy boy that couldn't go anywhere without me holding his hand. 

But at the same time, I knew he wouldn't always be that same boy. 

At that moment, I had just realised something I should never have, 

I fell in love with Ben

And that is the first flashback out of many others. But anyways, how's everyone doin so far? :33
