Little rant but since I'm doing a group project and I'm all done with my part but gotta wait for my teammate to send me his part I can't submit my assignment due today so now it's almost 11 pm and he still not responding so now I'm contemplating if murder should be legalised but anyways.

Enjoy this chapter cuz I've got nothing else to do while waiting.

Danny's POV

I felt like an idiot.

After hearing Ben say the words I've always wanted him to say to me, instead of feeling relief I felt betrayed.

After all I've gone through, after everything I did to try and make him happy, and everything I've tried keeping to myself, I finally snapped. Ben was the trigger.

"You feeling better now?" Clara whispered soothingly. I nodded, focusing on the floor as to not let her see my dreary state, "I'm such a loser".

Clara sighed, "No you're not. You're the bravest, kindest person I know." I chuckled, "You sure you aren't describing yourself?" Clara smirked, "I said kindest person "I" know".

My smile faded as I went deeper in thought, "...maybe what I've been doing was selfish. Maybe I didn't run away for their  sake 8 years ago, and I was just scared of being rejected."

"I agree. Super selfish of you." Clara retorted, which made me gape, "Wow, thanks."

She shrugged, "I'm sorry, but if I were you, I would have regretted that moment for the rest of my life. Willingly staying apart from my mate for 8 years. Some of us would've killed for that much time." her eyes stayed downcast.

I bit my lip and hesitantly pulled her to the bed. We laid there hugging in a comfortable state, just feeling each other's body warmth. "Let's forget about boys for now and sleep." I felt her give a light chuckle, "By the way..."

I hummed lazily, "...where's Sophie?"

Oh shit.

______

"About fucking time you noticed." Robin groaned. I hugged Sophie tightly, continuously apologising for leaving her behind.

"Baby I'm sorry~~" Sophie giggled, "It's fine daddy. I was just playing jail- I mean house with my new...friends." she spelled out the last word. I looked at the twins who seemed as if they'd been released from juvenile hall and pretended innocence. "...that's nice honey."

"What kind of dad are you anyway? Leaving your kid like that and forgetting about her." Derek suddenly barged in, his hair in three unsymmetrical braids, "You're lucky it was our house you left her in. Come back as many times as you like So- So~" he gushed.

I think I've seen enough trauma to last me a lifetime.

"...my daughter is frightening."

"Well, anyways. How are you holding up?" Robin intervened, "....Not so good"

"What were you guys talking about anyway? It looked really serious."

"He...told me that he wouldn't give up on me...and that he loves me."

The couple spat out literal spit at my face and I had to hold myself back from making the twins orphans. "He said he loved you?!"

I nodded.

"That's terrible!"

"That's awesome!"
