Michael's POV
As we were leaving the children's ward I couldn't help but feel sorry for them. I mean no kid should have to spend any time in a place like this to be honest. The only good thing about it was the fact that they all seemed so happy and didn't seem to realize that they were in hospital at all.
After we were done a lady came over to us and she had a shy smile on her face. "Look I know you boys are busy and everything, but I was wondering if you wouldn't mind visiting a young girl I have up in ward 7?" She asked this in a really polite manor, but you could also tell that it seemed like the only answer she wanted to hear was yes. I think that was more for the girl than her.
"Why is she in that ward and not with the other kids?" Ashton asked, there was pure confusion in his voice that I think spoke for us all.
"She's 16 you see, that's classed as an adult to the NHS and the surgery she had means she needs to be in a specific ward so she can recover properly." When she said this you could see that she felt sorry for the girl, and to be honest I think we all did. Well at least I did anyway.
"Well I'm up for it if the rest of the boys are." I said this with a smile as I looked at the other boys kinda hoping that they would say yes.
"Of course we will." They all said in unison with massive smiles on their faces. I was really happy that they agreed to see her with me as it might have been quite awkward if it was just me.
As we stated to walk along the corridor and up the stairs to the girls room. "I wouldn't ask you if I didn't think it was best for her, you know. It's just that the only company that she's had is her mum and brother so I think it would be good for her to talk to people that are close to her age face to face instead of just over the phone and on Facebook when she can sit in her chair to go on her lap top since her phone isn't really working." She said this with a smile but you could tell that she felt sorry for the girl. I mean everyone loves their family, well at least most people do, but when they are the only people that you can talk to you run out of things to say.
"Don't worry about it, really, it seems like this girl needs someone new to talk to." Ash said with a smile whilst we all nodded along.
"Well here you are, we normally only allow 2 visitors but since it's you boys the ward is letting it slide." She said this with a cheeky smile. We just let out a little chuckle and entered her room.
When we walked in we were expecting to see a girl sat on her lap top, but she wasn't, she was fast asleep in her bed cuddling a cuddly rabbit. She looked so peaceful and as if nothing was wrong with her at all, well that is until you notice all the needles and cables attached to her.
"I don't think we should wake her, I mean look how peaceful she looks!" I said with a small smile, but I was kind of annoyed that we didn't get to talk to her.
"Yeah you right mate, but we could wait her for a little just in case she wakes up?" Calum said with a smile. All the others nodded at what he had just said.
As he said the girl in the bed started to move about a little. She slowly blinked her eyes open and when she saw us she burst out into laughter while holding her side and cringing a little.
We all looked at each other really confused before she finally stopped and said "I'm sorry but when Kat said that some guys were visiting the children's ward and she would see if they could come talk to me for a bit I didn't think it would be 5 Seconds of F ing summer." She said this with a little giggle, that I found adorable, but there was a look of pain in her eyes that worried me.
"Are you OK, it's just you look like your in a little bit of pain?" I asked with worry obvious in my voice, and when I looked at the other lads I could tell they were thinking the same thing.
"Oh yeah I'm fine it's just it hurts like a Bitch to laugh, it will die down in a couple of minutes. Oh and I'm Rebecca by the way, but you can call me what you want I guess, everyone else does." She said this with so much happiness and life in her voice it was unbelievable. I mean for a girl who finds it painful to laugh she seemed pretty happy.
"Don't want to sound cocky but since you know who we are then I guess I don't need to say are names then." I said with a cheeky smile which made her giggle a little.
"Nah, your good, you still sounded cocky, but I know your names." She said this with a cheeky smile also that made all the lads laugh a little.
"Well aren't you a little ball of sarcasm and sunshine." Ashton said with a smile as he looked at her.
"Well why would I be miserable when A. I'm talking to the people that made me want to take up plying the guitar with my mates again and B. just not being happy and smiley is no fun at all!" She said this with a smile. At the same time she was trying to sit up a bit but she winced like mad, which made me worry a little.
"Need a hand there, Missy?" I asked while smiling at her. She just gave me a shy smile as she nodded her head a little. I went over to her not having any idea on what I should do, and I think she could tell.
"Could you just put your hand on my back so I have a little support while I move the head bit of the bed up to match it?" She asked it in such a high pitched and small whisper as if she was embarrassed about needing help. I just nodded and did what she said. She clicked a button on this pad thing before saying a small thank you to me. The other boys just sat there dumb founded at what had just happened.
"How the hell can you keep a brave face on all the time when you are clearly in a shit tonne of pain?" Luck asked her,
"Fist of, the awkward penguin speaks!" She said this while punching the air with a little giggle that made us all chuckle a bit. "And second, I guess it's because I just don't see the point in it really. I mean whats the point in being sad when you can actually smile. I get that some people can't but I can so I will." She said this with a massive smile on her face and you could tell that there was something else behind why and I really want to find out why.
