Chapter Two

My first class is AP English, and just to my luck, it turns out that Four is in that class with me. Fantastic. Note the sarcasm. I took a look around the room as I walk in and notcied that the only empty seat was next to him. He sat at the end of a row, so one side was against the wall and the other seat was empty.

"Class, this is Beatrice Prior." The teacher, Mr Jackson, introduces me.

"Tris," I correct him quietly. I say it with a smile.

"Okay then, Tris," he says with emphasis on Tris. "Take the empty seat next to Four."

I do as asked, even though I hate it, and sit down. During the lesson, I took notes on what Mr Jackson was teaching, but I was constantly getting annoying disturbances from a certain person sitting next to me.

On my other side, opposite of Four, was a girl with pretty, dark skin, and great looking hair. She's gorgeous. I bet every guy likes her. I, am the exact opposite. I have pale skin, and dull blue eyes.

"Psst," he would whisper. "Psst. Tris. Triss." I would ignore him, which fueled him to continue even more. "Triiisssss."

"What?!" I would whisper-yell.

He paused for a moment. Turning away and overly-dramatically sucking in a breath. He turned back to me and said "I forgot."

I drop my head into my arms, on my desk. I calm myself down by breathing in and out, and counting to ten. I bring my head back up and go back to taking notes and listening to the lesson. Four tries talking to me, but I block him out.

"Tris, come on. I was just messing with you." He says to me, as he follows me out of class. I ignore Four and check my schedule for my next class. I look at the numbers labeled on the walls for the classes. I need room 43. The hall on my right is labeled 12-15, so judging by that, I'm going to have to walk halfway across the school. I start walking in the general direction and Four follows.

"Tris, please don't ignore me." He says.

I turn to face him, annoyance clear on my face."Leave me alone." I say. "Your annoying and rude and I don't want people like you ruining a new school for me. So just stay away."

I turn back around and continue walking to my next class. I ignore Four's upset expression that keeps popping up in my mind. It's my first day at a new school and I'm not going to let a jerk I barely know ruin it for me.
