I'm hungry.
That was really the only thought that was in my mind for the past hour.
Years later, lunch finally came. When I was walking, the girl who was next to me came up to me.
"Hey, Tris, right?" She asks, looking down at me.
"Yup. That's me."
"Cool. I'm Christina." She says smiling. "And by the way, your probably the most special girl at school now. Even though your new." Her smile fades.
"Not to be rude, but why do you say that?" What can make me ever special among people? Nothing. I think she's lying. I don't want to be rude or judge-y, after all, I did just meet her. But I am shy and awkward, especially when it comes to socializing.
"Four apologized to you," she says that as if she's in awe. "Four has never, never, apologized to anyone. Its completely unheard of. I swear, his ego is going to be the death of him."
"What does his ego have to do with me?"
"I'm saying that he has a giant ego, and he never apologizes because it would be shameful to it. But, he did what is against his morals, and apologized."
"I just don't see why that's so unheard of and amazing."
"Well you are new here, so that's probably why. You haven't been around him that long. Anyway, wanna sit with me and my friends?" She asks, switching the conversation topic.
"Sure." I say happily. It's not like I'd have anywhere else to sit.
Christina brings me over to a circular table towards the back of the cafeteria. She introduces me to her friends. There's Will, Al, Lynn, Marlene, Shauna, and Uriah. And it just happens to be that Uriah is Zeke's brother.
"Guys, this is Tris." Christina introduces me. I smile.
"We already know." A girl, Marlene, says.
"How?" I ask with a confused look. All she does as an answer is jab her thumb back behind her shoulder. In the direction of Four. We all look over, to him. He's sitting and laughing with his friends. He notices us and looks at each one of us in turn, until his eyes rest directly on me. I turn away from him and face Christina. She guides me into a seat at our table. I sit in between Al and Will.
"So your 16?" Will asks. I drop my head. I am really tired of that 'joke'. I've gotten it a gazillion times today.
"Okay, Okay. We'll stop." Al says, looking up at Will as to say no.
"I'm just really tired of people saying that joke." I say plainly. "I get it a lot."
"I would be too, if I was you. But I'm not you, so brace yourself for a bunch of jokes like that in the future. " Lynn says and I give a small laugh.
"Will do. And, I'm pretty sure that the only person that's me, is me."
"Actually, it's a proven fact that there are seven other people in the world that look almost or exactly like you." Will says. "But I guess that's irrelevant since your saying who is you and not who looks like you. But it could work if you also add in people that look very much like you."
"Sheesh. Nerd." Lynn says, causing everyone at our table to laugh.
Once school ends, I stand outside and wait for Caleb, before I get on the bus. I lean against the building and look at the ground. Come on, Caleb. Hurry up! Still looking at the ground, I see large black shoes next to me. I look up to see Four. He half smiles.
"Your not to mad, right?" He asks.
"And why would you care?" I ask.
"Um." He scratches the back of his neck. "I don't want to get in trouble?" He says that last part like its a question.
