"So he's alive?" I ask eagerly.
"Yes, he's always been alive."
My mood brightens immediately. "Really?! Yay! Where is he? Can I see him?"
"He's not awake." Matthew says plainly.
"What?" I ask flatly. "You just a said-"
Matthew cuts me off. "I said he's alive, not awake."
My hands curl into fists and I restrain myself to not kill him. "What the hell? Why would you say that?! Seriously, do you not know what I have been going through?! I have shoved aside everything just so I can be with Tobias and make sure I'm there if anything happens or if he wakes up. I set aside my family, my school, my friends, just for that. A few days ago was the first time in weeks that I had gone back to school and actually talk to my friends again. And here you go being a total butt to me and tricking me into thinking he was awake! Why would you do that? What have I done to you that makes you be so mean to me? For the past week you've been rolling your eyes at me, making rude comments, and flat out ignoring me. Do you not want me here? Do you hate me?" I yell at him, quieting a bit at the questions.
Matthew sighs and walks out the door without saying anything, nor even looking at me.
I walk over to Tobias's bed sit in the chair next to him. He's been improving so much. He's more responsive when I talk to him. For example, if I hold his hand I can sometimes feel his finger twitch or a small squeeze. The nurse said that she thinks he'll wake up soon.
I spend about two hours just taking to Tobias when Caleb walks in.
"Bea," he says, "c'mon, mom and dad are waiting in the car."
I nod and get up after giving Tobias a hug. I walk out the door and Caleb follows.
-Time lapse- 3 Days-
"Aww, come on Tris! You haven't hung out with us in forever. Please, just come!" Christina whines. The group is trying to drag me with them to the Dauntless Diner.
"Yeah!" Uriah agrees. "Besides I could use a slice of Dauntless Cake, and I think you could too, Trissy Poo." He says while rubbing his stomache in a hungry gesture.
Mar looks at Uriah. "Hey, that rhy-"
Zeke cuts her off. "DON'T SAY IT!" He warns.
"Ohmygosh!" Uriah squeals. "That rhymes!"
"What have you done!" Lynn groans. "Now look at him!"
I take this chance to escape. I slowly back away from the group.
"Where are you going?" A deep voice behind me says. My eyes widen and I turn around
"Uh, no where." I say to Al.
"Come on, Tris!" He says loudly. "Your always with him! It's annoying! What happened to me, huh?"
"To you?" I ask. Al's eyes widen.
"I meant to me and the group." He trys to cover up his last comment, but something tells me he didn't fully mean to include the rest of the group.
"Let's go." Al says quietly. He puts a hand on my lower back, dangerously close to my butt. I turn out of his hold and walk back to the group, leaving Al behind.
When we get to the diner I order a cheeseburger with fries, and an orange soda. Uriah orders three slices of Dauntless Cake and a chocolate milkshake. How is he not 500 pounds? I wish I could eat all that and still be thin.
In the middle of eating, my phone rings. I check it and it's from...
