Chapter 7

I turn around and my Mom is walking over toward us with her head down. Thank god. She makes her way towards us and raises her eyebrows.

I feel my stomach start to rise and she spits out, "Hayes want to have dinner at our house?". I feel myself release all of the air in my lungs and he nods. Since my dad isn't home, the mom said that we can have dinner anywhere in the house.

Hayes and I choose the basement and we watch Netflix on the couch. We watch Gossip Girl which according to him is OUR favorite show. I guess we used to watch it together. The thing that's weird about the WHOLE night was that Hayes put his arm around me and I let him even though he has a girlfriend. I don't know if I can go any longer with him doing this to me.

HAYES POV

The whole night I rested my arm around Dena. And she surprisingly let me. Throughout Gossip Girl I watch her look at Chuck and Blair fall in love in the most mysterious way and envy them. That SHOULD be Dena and I. But no. My annoying "Girlfriend" got in the way. But not for long. I'm breaking up with her tonight when I get home. And she'll just have to deal with it.

Before I leave, I hug Dena goodbye and as I pull away I try to kiss her. She pulls away just before our lips can touch.

DENA POV

Right when I thought the night was going perfectly alright, it didn't. Hayes pulled our friendly hug into an almost kiss but I pulled away. I looked at him in a regular way. If I pretended nothing happened it would be pathetic but if I didn't it might turn him off. " I thought you have da girlfriend?" I say. He walks away and says on his way out, "Had".
