Chapter 42

The week that Hayes stayed in the hospital to fight the infection was the longest week I could remember. The very first day, he developed a coughing which the nurse said was a 'good sign'. I went to a floral shop downtown that was convenient and got the girliest flowers we could find for Hayes I went with Nash and Cameron. The next day, which took up our last free day, the boys and I all went to the museum in the hospital, and had Hayes roll around in his wheelchair with us. We made jokes about he was a cripple. The third day, the doctor said that Hayes was getting extremely well because of the diverse change in his immune system due to the medicine he has taken so he could leave early. We didn't have to miss Magcon again this time around and everyone was happy and able to be there.

Hayes got on his crutches early. When we got on the tour bus, I say next to him.

"Hi..." I said to him, shy if he would exploit me about the woods and waterfall thing with Matt.

"Hi Dena." Hayes responded.

I took a deep breath. "Are you mad at me?" I asked, trying to look him in the eyes.

He allowed me. "No, why would I be mad at you?" Hayes asked me, crouched down.

"Because I physically and emotionally hurt you, that's why." I said, tears in my eyes. Waiting to stream down my cheeks and make my eyes all puffy.

"Well, I'm alive! And I still like you..." he said, nudging my shoulder and smiling. I smiled too, happy that he was there. I blushed, thinking about what he said. When we got there, it was exactly like Magcon in California. Except in a different country, of course. Fans screaming and reaching for us all. It was chaos. We wen backstage to the tarps, this time it wasn't meet and greet, it was the stage meet. So the stage was up front and we all sat behind this huge tarp.

"Don't get upset if some girl says something stupid, okay?" Hayes asked me, gripping my hand.

"I won't." I said back. I knew that, but it was a nice reminder.

We all hung out for a half hour again and ate all the donuts, except Nash.
