Chapter 35

Hayes and I decided to watch 'Clueless' where this girl falls in love with her step brother. We skipped dinner and had poptarts up in his room. His mom allowed. I fell asleep in the very end, but it was okay because I've seen that movie tons of times. I could feel Hayes wrap his arm around me while I was still in a light sleep. But I was too tired to wake up.

That morning. I woke up, under the covers with Hayes. He was shirtless and it was 3:40. I got up, sneaked out of his room and hopped into my bed. My hands started sweating and I rubbed them on my bed comforter and fell back asleep.

When I woke up, again, I went down stairs to go get some breakfast. Everyone else was up, I guess I was tired.

"So, guess what I saw today, Dena and Hayes?" Mrs. E said. I looked at Hayes and he looked at me. I gulped.

"Wh-what?" I asked.

"I saw the perfect place for y'all to go! It's so cute! Bring Nash with you too though, won't you?" She said practically jumping. Hayes and I could breath now.

"Where?" Hayes asked, curious.

"You guys can go to the fair!" She said. It wasn't a bad idea. I agreed to go, finished breakfast, and went upstairs to go take a shower.

While taking a shower, I thought about if I still liked Hayes. What if he doesn't like me anymore? I tried to think it through. What if it's not the same and we both feel different. Different questions went racing through my head. I thought it through just once more. Even if Hayes doesn't like me, I determined I still liked him.

After I got ready and all, I went downstairs and it was already 1:00, time to go to the fair. We all got packed and drove down there. The ride here wasn't that quiet, but the song,'The Things We Lost In The Fire' came on. Mrs. E immediately turned the radio off and looked back at me in the rear view mirror. I turned away and looked out the window.

When we got to the fair, it was really crowded. We got inside and our first ride was 'Twister', the ride that spins you in circles while sitting down. I'd never been on it before so u didn't know what to expect. Just as we were slowly going up, we fell back down and crashed over to the other side. I grabbed Hayes' hand. He interlocked his fingers with mine and I closed my eyes. When we got off, it wasn't exactly that bad I guess. I just got creeped out.

The next place we went was the 'Fun House' Hayes and I went in first because they let in two at a time. We walked in and up the moving stairs. I turned around and faced Hayes, walked down the stairs a bit and was now walking next to him. "I have to ask you something." I told Hayes, looking at where I was walking and then at him.

"Go for it." He said. We walked into a circular tube that spun.

"Do you still like me, like more than a friend?" I asked.

He grabbed my hand and pulled me to the wall on the right. He leaned me against the wall and said, "Let's figure out." And he tilted his head and kissed me on the lips. It's been a while since we kissed. I forgot what it felt like. The middle of my chest just below my rib age started pumping up and down. Woah. I smiled after Hayes kissed me, and I could see him start to too.
