Chapter 10
My mom was standing there with her head popping into my room. Some way, somehow, my mother always seems to be interrupting Hayes and I whenever we're trying to be secretive.
"Hi! Just checking to make sure everything was okay, it seemed like there was a lot of movement going on up here." My mom said.
I frantically tried to think of a comeback. "Oh yeah, I was just checking to see what was under my bed! Just getting a feel of the place." I said sighing.
"Oh, okay sweetie, let me know if you need anything now, okay?" She said smiling.
I flashed a smile back and said, "Okay, I will", trying to get her to go away.
She closed the door and I looked back to the left of me at my closet and Hayes opened the door and squeezed out.
"So, 'sweetie', what should we do now?" Hayes said mimicking my mom as he sat on the couch. I hit him with the rolled up magazine in my hand and he laughed. Then his smile turned into a face that I'd never seen before. He looked as if he was about to get sick. I scooted in towards him and put my hand on his.
"Are you okay Hayes???" I asked in a concerned tone of voice.
"Um.... Yeah" he said in a dead mood. Then, he randomly got strait up and said, "Uh, I've uh got to go, now. I'll, um, talk to you later." He said opening and then closing my banister doors.
I sat there confused, and for a moment I thought. After a while, I got tired of thinking of what could've trigger that whole scene and constantly going into a dead end, and I laid down on my bed and grabbed the magazine I had just pretended to read and saw a picture of Hayes.
I suddenly sat up and read the title, "Hayes Grier's Popularity on Vine Rising," and continued to read over and over again the word,
