Chapter 49

My heart felt like it was beating out of my chest. I ran and ran deeper into the woods and still couldn't find Chase. It honestly scared the shit out of me. I turned in circles and there want anyone from the group around. It was like the whole world was spinning around me and I was standing still. Everything got blurry and I tried to walk and my shoulder smacked right into a tree. I grabbed it and pushed my shoulder off of it. Regaining my balance. I think some joe put something in my drink, because I didn't not drink alcohol. Plus, it was a fucking middle school party and they had alcohol? It didn't exactly match up.

I would just zigzag side to side and try to stand up, but eventually I just fell on the ground. My head started aching for no reasons and I just started to feel sleepy. With no energy in store, I fell asleep with my arms wrapped around a called tree trunk. Closing my eyes and then looking into dark, I fell asleep with out trying.

When I woke up, I wiped the bark sediments from my face and got up, not feeling dizzy this time. I couldn't see all of Zach's house, but the chimeny was enough for me to be able to find my way to the back of his house. When I got to the top of the lumpy hill his house sat on, I yelled. I don't know why, but I did. I think that if I yelled, then someone would come around back and find me and help me inside, making myself at home and feeding me. But no one did. So I made my way inside, sliding the glass door opened and Practically passing out on the couch in Zach's basement, I woke up a half hour later and walked upstairs to see what he had for breakfast. When I checked the cupboard, there was practically nothing, so I just had toast.

After making myself breakfast, just as I was about to take a bit out of my toast, someone from around the corner said, "No." very plainly. I cocked my head back for a split second, then readjusting it to its normal place. Hayes walked around the corner. I became ever more confused.

"Hayes... when did you get inside?" I asked him. I didn't hear anyone come in, so I assumed he must've crashed inside.

"Like five minutes ago." He said laughing. I laughed too.

"Did you sleep inside?" I asked him, wondering what he might answer.

"Outside, it was rough last night, huh?" he asked me, walking over to where I sat and grabbing a piece of my toast. Ripping it in half and shoving it in his mouth, he said, "Did you?"

"yeah." There was silence for a couple of seconds. Then breaking it, I said, "Funny thing is I hardly remember anything from last night..." trying to think back to a couple of hours ago. Yet I couldn't, and right when I started to remember, there was a loud noise from upstairs, it sounded like Zach's room, Hayes and I looked at each other. He started walking to the stairs and I followed him, getting closer and closer to the loud noise
