Chapter 39
"What?" Matt said, wiping his eyes of water.
Carter laughed and had a huge grin on his face. "You, have to tie Dena's bikini." Carter told Matt, sort of shoving it in Hayes and my face.
"So fucking what?" Matt said. He grabbed my shoulder and turned me around.
"And kiss her, right here, right now." Carter said, still smiling.
Matt looked over at Carter and then went back to tying my bikini top. I turned back around, my eyes partially opened. I looked over at Hayes and then at Matt.
"Okay," Matt said, looking at Carter. Matt looked at me and then scooted the foot area apart we were and grabbed my neck. I breathed out, realizing what this one kiss could potentially do to everything right now. Matt grabbed my cheek and pulled his lips into mine, kissing me long and hard. I was so scared at what was going to happen, I kissed him back. It must've been 30 seconds and then I pulled away. I looked over at Hayes. His eyes watering.
"We'll then..." Carter said.
"Yeah, well then." Hayes said, swimming up to a rock and then getting out of the water. He walked up the hill and never looked back. I looked back at Matt, his fingers on his lips. I got out of the water and went to go find Hayes.
"Hayes?" I said, thinking he was just a couple of yards in front of me.
"Hayes?!" I said. I heard a branch snap in the woods, I followed it and found Hayes behind a rock crying his eyes out. Reality cut lose right then and there and I started crying too. I sat down next to him, our backs against the big rock.
"What the hell was that?" Hayes said, still crying.
"I don't know- I don't know Hayes. I'm sorry." I said to him trying to look him in the eyes.
"Never, do that again, okay?" He said to me, now starring me strait in the face and standing up. I stood up too. Hayes tried to take a step past me, I tried to stop him, he just pushed my shoulder, practically giving me a heart attack. I felt a knot in my throat and I couldn't breath. I tried getting Carter and Matt's attention but they were yelling at each other. It was like having an asthma attack. I didn't want to get in the water, cause I could drown. So I walked up the hill, practically falling off the top of the cliff when I got there.
"I can't breath." I said, it wasn't like I couldn't talk. They walked over to me. I felt collapsed. I fell to my knees and Cameron reached inside of his backpack, pulling out an asthma mouth thing. He put it to my mouth and pressed the thing, I breathed in and my lungs and throat opened up. I took long deep breaths and had somehow made my way to lying onto the floor. I sat up and Cameron, Nash and Shawn gave me hugs seperatly. I looked around to look for Hayes but he was no where to be seen. The other guys saw me looking around and realized who I was looking for. Carter and Matt came running up the hill, out of breath. I thought they were Hayes so I had a mini panic attack.
"Um, guys? Where is Hayes?" Nash asked everyone.
"I didn't see him go back to the car..." Shawn responded.
"He must be back in the woods." I said, standing up.
"What do you mean by 'back' ?" Cameron asked.
"Long story." I said and headed for the woods. When we all made our way to the rock, he wasn't there. He wasn't anywhere. We couldn't find him.
He could be anywhere now. And we wouldn't have a damn clue.
