Chapter 8

DENA POV

I didn't know how to feel about Hayes saying 'Had'. But I just went to sleeps and dreamt about what tomorrow could bring me. And my dream went in wild circles that spun every which way uncontrollably.

~School~

When I got to school, I saw Hayes first at 1st period. He waved me over as if to show me something. When I sat down, he tossed me his phone. I grabbed it and saw a conversation:

Hayes: Jordan, I don't like you anymore. And quite frankly, I haven't for a really long time.

Jordan: Are you breaking up with me?

Hayes: Yeah. But we can still talk.

Jordan: Yeah. But why?

Hayes: I like someone else. Sorry.

Jordan: Who? Is it Dena? I swear if it's her I'll get you for this.

Hayes: ...

I looked up and said 'Wow' with my mouth. He widened his eyes for a split second. I gave him his phone back. He scooted over into the chair next to me. He laid his head down with his arm under it. He whispered, " I like you, Dena.", I nodded. "Do you?, like...me?" He said while sitting up.

I nodded yes. "Yeah, I do like you." I said while blushing. Shit I thought. The teacher said my name and I answered some question I learned last year. I looked back at Hayes, who was smiling at me. "What?" I asked.

"Nothing, I have to tell you something after school, but you can't tell your parents what I tell you, okay?" He said raising his eyebrows. I nodded yes. About 30 minutes later, first period was over and the bell rang. When Hayes got up to get his stuff he put his hand on my leg and scooted his chair back. I think I either got scared or happy idk.
