Chapter 34
DENA POV
The next day, just before dinner time, Hayes texted me.
Hayes: hey. Come to my room, I have a surprise!
Me: uh, okay:/
I walked to his room and knocked in the door. "Come in." He said.
I opened the door and took a step forward. "So, what's the surprise?" I asked him, pretty scared.
"Shut the door." he demanded. And I did as told. "Come here," Hayes said, waving me over I where he was sitting. I walked over and he told me to turn around. So, again I did what he told me to do. A cold chain laid on my chest and collar bone and Hayes moved my hair above one shoulder and clipped the back. It was a necklace. I looked at what was hanging from it and it was a heart that had my parents names on it and birth-death years below it.
I took a step to Hayes and wrapped my arms around him. He stood up and hugged me too. I didn't want to let go. I missed our hugs and I didn't know I I liked him as much as before. I pulled apart with my hands still around his neck. There was silence for a good five seconds. He leaned in closer to me and I could tell I was too. I didn't want to though. So just as he was about to touch lips with mine, I turned my head. "I, can't." I said to him our cheeks still touching.
I kissed his cheek instead and tried to walk out but he said, "Wait, no. Stay."
I turned around and sat on his bed. He sat next to me. "Sorry," he told me, gripping my hand.
"It's okay." I told him, and I wasn't lying.
