chapter 15 || 015

'what happened on date night?'

I sat on the couch and watched Jughead basically turn into a major conspiracy theorist. I've never seen him like this actually so this is a new take.

The wall was filled with photos of Riverdale, some famous places. And most importantly that Lodge guy that came over the other morning to strike a deal. He's on a crusade for that rich man's head.

"Maybe he's trying to make Riverdale his drug mule or something." I lamented from the couch.

Jughead finally turned around from his detective wall and faced me. That boy was in his own head for more than five hours- probably more. It was no good to do that. You can't get far when you're stuck in the same place.

"I've already ruled out that theory. And countless others." He thought out loud. He was turned to me but he wasn't looking at me really. Until he was. "I heard you went out with Reggie?"

Shit.

I nodded my head slowly. "Kid said he was mesmerized by me or something? Wanted to show him there was nothing here to be so awe struck over." I didn't realize I was waving my hands around like a manic until Jughead started smiling.

"Maybe you should go on another date, to make sure he got the message." He joked and I flipped him the bird.

The front door opened and in came FP.

"FP glad you can make it to mystery incorporated. I'm going to take a very long nap, maybe you could solve this mystery." I gave him a thumbs up and laid back down on the couch with my feet up. Shutting my eyes I got comfortable.

"How'd the date with the bulldog go?" FP's voice asked me.

"Should we talk about a certain blonde, FP? Around your age?" I opened up one eye to get a good look at him after I said that and he was shaking his head.

-

There was literally no one at the wrym besides Fangs and Pea. The rest of the serpents I don't really talk to like that so really there was no one here.

Even Toni wasn't here. She was probably somewhere with Cheryl. Those two lovebirds are getting together on their own and I've never been happier about two people not needing my love help.

I stroll up to the boy's pool table and watch them as they play.

There is literally nothing to do.

"Why'd I hear that you went out on a date with that bulldog?" Sweet Pea asked from the right corner of the pool table.

Shit.

Okay who was going around telling all my business?! Was nothing private anymore? This town is really extraordinary. What in the hell did I get myself into?

I shrug my shoulders as casually as I can. "I have no words." I really couldn't even form a decent sentence. I told Sweet Pea that he was just asking for notes, but he wasn't. He was asking me out.

"Just know that if he tries anything, we will be there to knock his notherside head into a wall." Fangs sounded so- protective. Is this what it is to have like good friends? Is that what I have? Good friends?

"As sweet as the gesture is, I doubt he's gonna come back and ask for another date. I was pretty boring the whole time I made sure of it." I rejoice just as Fangs hits a ball into the pocket and earns himself a point. "I bet I could beat both of you."

They both looked at me with dead silence.

I was really good at pool. I had to be with all the places I put stopped at. I won enough money to buy myself a fancy meal at a red lobster one time. I'm pretty good.

"Princess, do you really want to start that?" Sweet Pea asks with hooded eyes and a very evident grin on his face. Him with that nickname, if only he knew the half of it. I nod slowly and pick up one of the extra sticks to play. "I wanna make a deal."

"Okay, what do you got?" Inquiring I stand chest to chest with him. It always seems to come back to me and him staring each other down.

"I win, you tell me why you don't like being called princess." Fair. I was wondering when he was gonnna ask about that.  I mean I was willing to fight him for it when we first met.

Nodding I poke his chest as I make my demand. "And if I win. You stop calling me princess."

He steps back from me a couple of inches and holds out his hand. "You got a deal."

I take his hand into mine and shake it. "Thanks, loser."

-

I line up my stick with the 8 ball and concentrate hard on my shot. If I made this, he would stop with that stupid nickname. If I didn't I would have to explain why it meant so much to me. I wasn't up for explaining my situation right now.

I line up my shot and take it, the ball moving accordingly to the pocket slowly.

"Princess, there is no way that that 8 ball is going in-" Sweet Pea shouts in disbelief but before his art remark can even finish the ball sinks into the pocket.

I smile widely and put the stick back into the corner.

"There is no way you just beat him. He's like the king of pool. You just dethroned him." Fangs put from the opposite side of the pool table, in shock. His mouth was wide open.

I look around the wrym and see that everyone's eyes were on our game. Everyone was still and quiet.

Walking over to Sweet Pea I looked up at him with a huge smile on my face. My hand went out and patted his shoulder.

"Looks like you have to find a new nickname for me. Next time just handle the truth, don't make bets you can't handle."  I beamed at him and he scoffed lightly. "Maybe someday I'll tell you the real reason."
