chapter -14.5

The movie started and Reggie hasn't pulled anything. Actually he seems really invested in this movie. I had to grab the popcorn away from him when I wanted to eat some because he was so into it.

I on the other hand was a little to distracted. But why would I be distracted? I'm on a movie type date with the king of the jocks. We somewhat hate each other and i'm trying to get him off my back. I shouldn't be distracted.

But just two rows ahead is something that distracts me.

Cheryl and Toni.

Sneaking looks to each other, laughing, having fun. Looking real cozy. 

I couldn't stop watching them every minute or so. How did the both of us end up here? Toni with Cheryl who were about to thrown down the first time they met at school. And me and Reggie who- started off on a lie.

How did any of this work?

Toni's small figure left her seat and went out the theater door. I had to figure out what was going on between those two.

"Hey I've gotta go drop a load, be back." I announced to Reggie who was way too involved with the movie to even register what I said. Instead he nodded and moved his long legs out of the way. 

I got out of my chair and practically ran after Toni. She couldn't be bailing on Cheryl, she had to be going to the bathroom. So I jogged to the bathroom and as soon as I open the door she stood there with her arms crossed.

Busted.

"Are you following me around Diana?" She asked with a hardened face.

I shook my head at her, feeling a little guilty. "No I was on- am on a date. With Reggie. And I saw you with Blossom. And I- you guys look so cute! And then you walked out and I knew you weren't ditching her so I just had to be sure. And you aren't. So.."

Toni chuckled at my blabbering.

"But how did you two get here? I mean I don't even know why I'm entertaining Reggie's date fantasy." I explained to her as I leaned against the sink and thought to myself. What the hell am I doing on this date with the tall dark and handsome jock? i'm lying to myself if it's to turn him away from me.

"It all started with the Ghoule v.s. Serpent drag race. I was supposed to count the drivers off but out of nowhere Cheryl Blossom snatched the honors away from me. I knew from that moment that me and her were just beginning."

The credits rolled and I peeked a look over at Reggie who was on the verge of silent tears. I guess that this date is already an enigma so if I were to be friendly to him it wouldn't be so out of whack right now.

I took his hand into mine and locked out fingers together. "You really liked the movie, huh?"

He nodded instantly and began to wipe his eyes.

"It's an amazing story Diana. I'm so glad I saw it." He confided in me and then all of a sudden he went still. Like he had slipped up or something, but what did he say? "D-did you like it? Are you glad you got to see it?"

I sat back in my seat for a moment.

"You used me as an excuse to see the movie. You didn't want anyone to see you going alone to Love, Simon." I concluded and then look over to him to make sure I got it right. Sure enough he was looking at me in shock.

"Diana-" He began but I cut him off.

"You know if you wanted to see this movie by yourself you could've. It's something you like and if anyone were to give you anything about that they can shove it. It's 2018, do what you want." I whispered to him and I could see him starting to relax a bit more. I didn't think Reggie could stray away from the standard robotic-jock type. But apparently I was wrong.

"It's just my dad." He puts simply and I nod.

I don't know what my dad would have said if he found out the shit that I've done to get to Riverdale. He wouldn't be proud. I know that. But I had to do what I had to do. I can only imagine still having him in my life, I hope that he would be understanding.

I hope.

But I'll never really know.

"You wanna stay for the next showing?"
