chapter 16 || 016

'a day turns sour'

I was in the hallway minding business and putting my sweater into my locker. I always mind my business anyways, sometimes things just fall into my lap and I can't help but to make it my business.

Crack!

My body stiffened at the thought of bones cracking. Who the hell did that?

I move my eyes around the somewhat crowded hallway until I see a body on the ground. Right at the center of it was that Veronica girl. A crowd was forming around her, all gasping. Maybe Cheryl is getting a run for her money.

Anyways it's none of business.

I shut my locker and head the opposite way from the crowd. I don't want to get involved in whatever that is. But I really have to take a leak. Who cares if I'm a little late for class? What am I gonna do pee in my chair?

I head into the girls bathroom and straight into a stall.

It was like a waterfall in there maybe i should stick to only one water bottle per lunch period. I can hear the soft click of shoes leaving the bathroom and then it's just silence.

I would be so embarrassed if someone I knew heard me just let all my bladder out like that. It's a natural thing yes but it's still embarrassing.

The door slams open with a loud boom and I almost fall into the toilet from the noise.

I look under the stall door and see a pair of legs head straight for the sinks. Those feet were really big. I'm not judging anyone! Damn I should leave it alone.

Standing from the porcelain bowl I clean myself before flushing the toilet. Before the loud noise of the toilet flushing is done I open the stall door and low and behold.

Reggie.

"Diana?" He asks from the mirror. He's holding up an ice bag to his eye as he looks at me through the mirror.

"You know this is the girl's bathroom right?" I walkup to the sink next to him as he lets out a sigh. He looks to be having a rough day isn't he? I don't hate him or anything, and I'm not annoyed with him anymore.

After movie night I kind of put that aside. I'm still trying to do so even if he seems to forget that night.

But I knew he still had those asshole tendencies. I knew someone somewhere was not the one to be tested.

Reggie turns to leave the bathroom but I grab his arm. I do not feel anything for this boy. I do not. But he's holding that ice pack wrong.

My hand reached for his with the ice pack in it and I adjust it a little to his eye. "There, that's the way you hold it to a black eye." My hand is still over his as he keeps his eyes glued to me. "What?"

He stifles a laugh and I take my hand away from his. "Nothing mystery girl, just taking observation."

Reggie, always with the observation. I shake my head lightly at him. "There's nothing to observe. Sooner you learn that the better."

-

Another day, time flies.

I had to change my walk to a run to catch up with Fangs and Pea who were in the parking lot. Once they saw me they started smiling at me. Weird. What were these two smiling at?

My intuition tells me to look around so I do, and there's Reggie. He's talking to his friend- or more like his friend is talking to him. But he's looking dead at me.

It's been two days since the whole bathroom incident. Apparently he was talking slick about Veronica's father so she punched him. And now the two were running against each other for school president.

Totally not my business.

As I approached them on their bikes I frown. "What's up with the smiling you two weirdos?" I question them but the two just share a look with each other before shrugging it off.

"Nothing pool princess." Sweet Pea teases and I clench my jaw. I should have saw this coming. "You said I couldn't call you princess, and I'm not."

I nod my head at him and roll my eyes. "Fangs I'm riding with you today since Pea seems to be a sore loser." Sweet Pea still hands me his helmet with a laugh.

"Thanks L holder." I grin at him and get on behind Fangs wrapping my arms around his waist. "To the diner we go."

-

I swear the time flies by when I'm working.

I seated a couple of people and made a decent amount in tips, it's an eventful day.

The signature bell rings and Reggie comes waltzing in with his teammates. They all file into a booth like it's meant to hold that many people and chatting up each other.

Of course Reggie is spotting a shiner as he looks around for - who else? Me.

"Diana! Can we place our orders?" He shouts over to me, like we were friends. He sure was a regular, but me and him were not friends. We were in this weird space in between because of that date.

The rev of an engine- a very familiar engine sounded from outside the dinner. My head snapped over to the window by the front door to get a better look at who was pulling in.

That ghoulie kid and my bike.

My bike!

"Give me a sec." I shout back to Reggie's booth as I head over to the front door.

I jog down the steps and right to the bastard on my bike. Just as he takes his- my helmet off my hand swings and connects with his jaw.

He goes down instantly and stares at me from the ground.

"Why the hell are you back here with my bike? Did you want to rub it in? I'm about to sock you again- stand the fuck up!" I screamed at him from above. He just watched dazed and in awe- I honestly don't know why. I just punched him in the face.

"Bellamy I think you should listen to what I have to say before you swing again." His voice cuts through the silence and I feel the goosebumps rise up on my arms.

My name.

How the hell did he know my name? What the hell did he find out? What did he do?

He's laying on his side a huge smile on his face. The kid doesn't even have a shirt on under that death metal jacket of his. Whatever drugs he's on, I do not want it.

I crouch down next to him and meet him eye to eye. "I don't know what you think you found out. But I suggest you drop it because the people that are looking for me won't blink once before they behead you."

His eyes go wide and then a laugh falls from his lips.

"Take the bike then. But know that we are not finished."
