EIGHTEEN

we gather here today to celebrate the life of king dong sicheng I
and duchess jang hyorin, who have now returned to their home with Our God, The Father.

the voice of the priest echoed in the big cathedral, his hands displaying the coffins in which the guys peacefully layed as a sorrowful atmosphere fell upon the place.

the choir started with the hymns right away, while the rest of the people followed the slow rhythm.

although it wasn't my first time attending a funeral, i couldn't really stand the situation — i felt like choking in such a place, horrible.

so i checked out the guys, making sure they were fully immersed in the service as i carefully sneaked out the church, trying to not get the others' guests attention.

once outside i breathed heavily, with my hand on my chest.
relieved by the fact that i was finally far away from that cage, i decided to stroll around the town, which seemed busier than usual.

the citizens were rejoicing.

i furrowed my eyebrows, staring at the singing street vendors and joyful homeless kids in disbelief.
they didn't seem to be affected by what sorrounded them at all, it was as if their life suddenly became perfect and nothing could be wrong.

i then felt someone tapping my shoulder, only to discover that behind me stood chenle.
he looked at me with hopeful eyes, while i felt a bit intimidated by his presence.

i couldn't easily trust him after all.

«can i speak to you for a second?»

he asked me with such an innocent voice, i didn't know how to decline his simple request.

i nodded, following him to a more silent part of the town: he looked so harmless and weak, i wonder what happened to him after the last time we met.

after walking for about ten minutes, we arrived at a small ditch sorrounded by trees and bushes.
the fresh sound of the water flowing and the birds singing giving me a chilly vibe.

t

he young boy sat on the green grass, instructing me to join him as well.
i did so and confusingly stared at him, while trying to guess what he was about to talk to me about.

«why didn't you kill me too? am i not your enemy?»

chenle wondered.
i didn't actually know how to answer, maybe because the reasons were too many and just one wouldn't be clearly enough.

he was a kid, he never hurt me.
he was not that different from me, we were extremely similar.

his tears were more powerful than the gun i held in that moment.
my anger couldn't really reach out to him.

and those were just a few reasons why i didn't kill him, but i didn't have the courage to tell him.

«i'll take that as a no, then...»

«what, wait i didn't-»

«don't be angry at me for this, miss.»

the blonde boy said sweetly smiling at me and before even asking him what he meant by saying so, i felt someone placing a wet foulard on my lips.

it didn't took much to realize that the cloth of the rectangular shaped tissue was drenched in chloroform.

i tried to escape the strong grip, but invane.

and as i felt my body weaker and my eyelids heavy, i let myself drown in the deepness of the darkness.

[...]

«i told you i wasn't her enemy!
bet she's not even a noble.»

«then why is she staying at the royal palace?»

«i don't know, maybe she's just like our new leader, but with different purposes.»

«yes! that might really be, you're a genius chenle!»

the two boys kept whispering in front of me, thinking that i wouldn't actually hear them.

i woke up in a small and modest room, way different than the palace's ones.
it was quite dark and the furnitures were old, the scent of vanilla that came from the burning candles was the only pretty thing i would get from such an allowance.

i sighed, making myself comfortable on what seemed like jisung's bed, while he just sat at the window — still whispering to his blonde friend.

i have to stop being kidnapped by random dudes...

«oh, she woke up!»

the taller then said surprised when he saw me causally hearing their conversation, my arms crossed.

he ran to me and took my hands in his, trying to get me up

«c'mon miss, our new leader is waiting for you downstairs!»

he said smiling brightly.

and that was when chenle stood up as well and came to help his fellow, dragging me as well.

«hey, where are you taking me to? leave me alone!»

i exclaimed waggling myself.

they laughed at me and kept walking towards the lower floor with a steady pace.

«we won't hurt you miss, just relax.»

after going through a large alley, we reached at a living room.

the first thing i noticed was man, who sat backwards on an old chair, looking at the bright sight the windows offered him.

the guys stepped back, their hands being removed from my arms as one of them coughed loudly, catching the man's attention.

«sir, we bought sir park's assassin.»

chenle said cheerfully.

why you being so cheerful for?

i glared at him raising an eyebrow, only to see him grinning at me.

rolling my eyes, i brought my attention back to the unknown person seated at a few meters from us.

he rose his hand up and motioned the guys to leave the room, making me and him the only people remaining.

«what a coincidence to meet you in such a gracious place, miss irene.»

he said while standing up and turning towards me, making himself more visible and recognizable.

and it was the moment i saw his face that i started asking myself about the absurdness of my little travel.

if he were to be really that person...

how on earth did he get here too?!

unedited.

who might he be?
try guessing out!
