TWENTY

[FLASHBACK]
the narration is made by the author.

johnny sat on his swirling chair, nervously tapping his slender fingers on the table.
next to him stood an utterly nervous haechan, as both their eyes scanned the latter's collection from head to toe, from left to right.

the taller then stood up and started walking back and forth, sighing from time to time.

it was the day before his great comeback as an artist, after a long hiatus and nothing could go wrong, absolutely nothing.
the fact that this was the first time his paintings were actually alive, didn't help at all.

«please guys, tell me you understood everything...»

johnny asked looking at the guys standing inside the canvases, who all nodded in unison without saying anything.

«let's check it out then.
taeyong, what's the first important rule?»

the well said man asked again, pointing at the red haired male.

«first rule: real humans can't be brought into our world.»

taeyong answered nonchalantly.
he also wondered why their creator would only gather he and his friends and not the citizens, only to get to know that the artist thought that the kings were actually more suspicious and stubborn than the others.

the tall young man then pointed at lucas

«the second?»

«avoid communicating with real humans in every possible way.»

johnny mouthed a low, yet excited "yes!", happy to see that his characters seemed to have understood the rules.

and that's why he didn't ask further questions, he thought that it was enough.

joining his hands and smiling at the seven nobles he reminded the final rule, the most important thing to remember

«you mustn't burn the canvases, this is no joke guys!»

and after that, all the canvases were shifted to the gallery's collection room.

«haechan, this is the list of the people who you have to suggest the kings' paintings to. i'll take care about the rest.»

the artist affirmed after giving a long list to haechan.

the young boy took it and decided to give it a cautious look.
next to the names, the pictures of the future customers were attached, making the work easier to the staff member.

"qian irene
nakamoto yuta
for king lucas' installation
..."

[...]

the great day had finally come: the gallery was full as always, customers came from all the main big cities just because of this spectacular event.

as the bodyguards opened the entrance doors, floods of people scattered around the various installation, staring at the works in awe

and behind all this marvellous occasion stood an happy johnny, who was casually sipping on a glass of champagne while chatting with some business men - interested in financing his activity.

the situation seemed to be under his complete control.
as for now, the full success of the plan was in the special customers' hands.

meanwhile haechan patiently waited at lucas' section, watching the great amount of people walking in front of him.
then a couple caught his attention "that's miss irene!" the young boy thought excitedly.
he quickly ran to the well said woman and gently tapped her shoulder, instructing her and her brother to follow him to an interesting painting.

the moment the dark haired lady saw the canvas, she seemed to have fall in love with it at first sight.
a total jackpot for the staff member, who silently rejoiced by dancing cutely.

"it's now yuta's turn..."

after taking the check from irene, the boy strolled around the hall, searching for the second customer assigned to the blonde king's painting.

it wasn't an easy task for him, since there were a lot of students and young men who kinda looked like him.

but, no one was as narcissist as him.

that was what helped the light brown haired boy recognize the client, as he heard a male constantly bragging about his visuals and his school's marks.

«excuse me, mr. nakamoto...»

haechan whispered in his ear.

same steps, different target.
the staff showed him the second canvas, trying hard to impress the japanese boy who looked like hooked up to it

he stared at it for awhile, his eyes exploring every single detail, before giving an actual answer.

«hmmm... it's cool, although it's not as handsome as me.
i'll take it!»

«really?»

«yes.»

"that was so fast tho."

the boy couldn't believe he fulfilled the task in so little time, better than he expected to be honest.

the fact that the customers were classmates and that they were led to the same character, was really weird.
why would the creator want such a thing?
what were his real purposes?

he then remembered johnny mentioning a certain mr. moon, who was an history teacher at the college near the building.

he also said he was a friend of his and he asked him to do a favor: use the living paintings as a test for his students, but he didn't have further information about the whole matter.

it's not like it was part of his business after all.

unedited.
