Verde bolted out of his sleep to the sound of machines beeping rapidly. He shielded his eys as a blinding light flicked on overhead and he heard a bunch of voices calling out different things. It seemed like hands were reaching out to grab him and he flinched away.

"No! don't touch me!" He began to scream and struggle when a hand landed on his shoulder. "Get away from me!"  The beeping became faster and louder.

The door slammed open and Cisero rushed in. He gave a warning growl. Everyone backed away from the bed.

"Alpha Cisero- "

Cisero held up his hands.  "It's fine. He's scared. Leave him alone for now."

They left as Natelly walked over to the bed. Verde somehow managed to get off the bed and was on the floor wedged between the wall and the bed. He had his knees up to his chest and his arms covering his head as if he expected to be hit. Cisero slowly moved the bed so he could sit near him without touching. Natelly also sat but he touched Verde's foot. They both shivered at the contact.

"Verde, won't you come out?" he said softly.

"G-go away."

He put Uni on her feet.  "But there's someone here that wants to see you."

Uni brushed her curls off her forehead and leaned against Verde's legs.  "Daddy?"

Verde's head snapped up at the voice of his precious daughter. "Uni?"

She rubbed her nose against Verde's soft skin and held him tightly. "Are you better now, daddy?"

Tears rolled down his cheeks as he pushed the black, brown, and blonde curls out of her face. "I am now." He pulled her into his arms and buried his face in her neck inhaling her. "My baby."

"Don't cry, daddy."  She wiped his cheeks and kissed his nose. "Cisero and Natelly took really good care of me."

He pulled back and smiled.  "Yeah?"

She nodded. "They gave me a bubble bath in this tub that was biiiiig as a pool and they gave me cookies and candy and I got to play with other kids."

He pinched her pudgy cheeks and gave her an Eskimo kiss.  "They're spoiling you. They shouldn't do that"

"But they said it was okay because they're my daddies too now."
